Hi Dick
My father was an Amarican Technical sergeant who fought from 1942 to 1945.I
am as American as you are.He was from California.
I am just angry that people in high places deny us our rights - and they get
away with it.
The Marion County Indiana website says
"There is no restriction on issuing death certificates." and
"Marion County Health Department Offers Special Hours for
Genealogists"
3838 North Rural, Indianapolis, IN 46205
(317) 541-2408
The Marion County Health Department whose regular hours are
8:00 a. m. to
5:00 p. m. Monday through Friday is now open until 8 on
Wednesday especially
for those doing genealogy research. During this time the
researcher may view
the film of any birth (including illegitimate but excluding
adoption
related) or death record. Birth and Death records start in
1882 for Marion
County. Death records start 1872 for Indianapolis."
THAT STATEMENT BY MARION COUNTY IS JUST NOT TRUE.
One of the things my dad fought for was Freedom of Information.
The USA should not let a handfull of misguided terrorists destroy their
freedoms!
I have spent a lot of money and a lot of time trying to obtain the name of a
great aunt who had no kin when she died.
I have found this

Sounds like a joke on you.
If you really care about your aunt's maiden name, then you should proceed
with your search using records other than those from Social Security. The
SS
folks are really spooky about releasing data. Live with it.
You certainly should try an approach other than telling us here in the
colonies how things are done in Europe. Remember; most of us have ancestors
who left Europe because of the way things were done there. And we fought in
a couple of wars because of the way things were done in Europe.
Good luck in your search. Be nice whenever you can. You will get a lot
more
help that way. :)
