Several folks have written me privately asking questions about
researching in Marion Co. I've only been researching in this county for
a couple weeks so am unable to provide much help. But, one thing I would
suggest folks try is to search the archives for this list.
When I begin research in a new locality, one of the first things I do is
search email list archives. The RootsWeb archives show the Marion Co
list has been in existence since 1998, so possible clues could be found
by searching these archives.
For those not familiar with this operation, follow these directions:
1. Click on this URL:
http://searches.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl
This takes you to the main page for ALL archives.
2. Type the name of the list you wish to search in the box.
In this case, "INMARION".
3. You should now be at the location for conducting searches of ALL the
messages ever posted to this list (except for the last few days).
Using keywords of your choice, and searching by year, a search will
find messages that have been posted to this list. But, it will only
find exact matches to what you input. For example, if someone else
spells the surname KIME and you search for KEIM, there will be NO
match.
