Dear Nan,
Thanks for the response. I didn't include the last 4 digits in my request
to the City Archives. I had the marriage application for my parents,
which was obtained in order to verify my Mother was eligible for Medicare
in 1962. I saw that the last 4 digits were no where on the document- so I
didn't send it along.
I had called the City Archives before sending my letter. They said to
send a letter requesting the documents along with a stamped self
addressed return envelope and they would search and advise on number of
pages so that I could send appropriate fees for the pages. They returned
the letter with the hand written note. I was surprised that given the
document # they didn't just look for the document and say "This number
was never assigned or it was assigned but we have last the document". I
was hoping they would say they indeed had it. The comment that they
checked records for years 1891-95 would make me think they felt I had
jumbled document numbers and thought I was only guessing on the marriage
date.
The data Lora sent me from her CD, I am sure was not fabricated.
Therefore I was hoping she would be able to tell me where the original
information came from. I assume it was some written log or search that
was digitized.
Since my Grandparents were both Catholic, and lived in the West end of
Indianapolis, I borrowed the Assumption Catholic Church records from LDS
and found the birth dates and baptisms for all my Uncles & Aunts Konrad
as well as mine and that of my two oldest siblings. Then my Dad was
transferred to Cincinnati. For some reason my Grandparents wedding was
not in the Assumption records ( My parents were ). It may be that the
parish didn't exist in July 1895 ( I faintly recall the cornerstone
having an 189? date on it).
I do know it existed when my oldest Uncle George was born in September
1896. In searching these Assumption records I came across two families of
Mootz that were having children baptized contemporaneously. I guessed
these might be Great Uncles of mine and they were. I therefore know that
all my Mootz ancestors lived in the Assumption parish, and would have
expected a Catholic marriage there for my Grandparents Konrad. If by
chance Assumption did not exist in July 1895, I am not sure which parish
would have been their home parish. I'll pursue this avenue to see if I
can confirm their marriage date. What I really want is to get Grandpa
Konrad's place of birth and date of birth, which I hoped would have been
on his marrige application.
