Hi Maureen,
In the late 19th century you possibly might be able to get a copy of the marriage
certificate--not always, but there certainly should be a record in the marriage register
at the county courthouse in Indianapolis especially if you have bride/groom's name and
date of marriage. Also I have found German Catholic Church marriage and birth records on
film for Indianapolis from 1860's to 1920's. The amount of information varies so
greatly it is hard to say what you will find, but most of the US marriage courthouse
records I have found in that time period have parents names, minister names, witnesses
names, where bride/groom lived (city).
Here's a list of websites that might be helpful to you:

There is also an Indiana Marriages 1845-1920 database on
Ancestry.com that had all my
Indianapolis family's records. Requires a membership, but I have one and would be
glad to check it for you. Could run a search for all Ancestry's records if you will
send me their information.
I travel to England often, but haven't made it to Devon yet. Hope to in the next few
years--I'm addicted to clotted cream! I have a wonderful friend who lives near Hever
Castle in Bough Beech, Kent.

Subject: [MARION COUNTY, IN] Marriage certificates
Good Afternoon,
Could someone kindly tell me what would be found on a Marriage
Certificate for late 19th and early 20th centuries?
I am looking for marriages which I believe took place in Marion County, IN.
Are these certificates available for Family History research purposes?
Will I find the names of the bride's and groom's fathers?
Many thanks for any help or advice,
Regards,
Maureen in Devon UK
