Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
I recently received the above book and am working on an AHGP / ALHN site to
which I will be adding this. If anyone is interested, please let me know.
Thanks.

I've ordered info on several KING ancestors who were buried at Crown Hill Cemetery. The cemetery has individual records on each person except for some who were reinterred from other cemeteries in the late 1800s. The records do not give relationship information, unfortunately, but with each record they send a copy of the cemetery lot. I shows where each person is buried in the lot. They are numbered according to when each person died and was buried. Some were children and their graves are represented by a smaller rectangle rather than a larger one for adults. The individual records usually give the date and place of death as well as the burial date and sometimes the cause of death. Sometimes you'll find they died in far away places.
I found census records helped me understand how some people were connected. Some daughters, their husband and children were buried with their parents under their married name.
Crown Hill also sent copies of Internment Orders for some of the people. It gave the name of the owner of the lot. In some cases I received copies of a legal paper listing all the descendants of the person who originally bought the lot. One person went to great lengths to prove he was related to the original owner of the lot by writing 2 pages of genealogy which the cemetery copied and sent me. That was a big surprise and probably unusual.
They charged me $5 per individual record late last year. The people have always gone out of their way to find as much information as possible to send.
Good luck,
Janet Russon

I would respectfully suggest that you go onto the Crown Hill site, go to
your man's "file," and request a copy. Their information gives a lot of

give you a clue to seeking further information.
I believe the cost is, as I recall, $6.00 per copy. The fees might have
changed.
Hello,
Can anyone assist me in finding out if this listing in Crown Hill Cemetery is James Arthur Jordan b. April 15, 1884 in Edmonson Co., Kentucky to Hiram and Harriet E. Wingfield Jordan? James was married to Lula Edith Krumrine, (about 1907 according to census) another one I am unable to find a death on!
ARTHUR JORDAN
Burial: 09/08/1934 Section: 25
Marker: N Lot: 228
I am trying to find James Arthur Jordan's death....most likely in Indianapolis, or at least Marion Co as that is where he lived in 1910, 1920 and 1930 census. James Arthur's brother Ulysses Jordan and his family were buried in this cemetery.
Thank you for any help you might be able to give me.

To find Annabel's death date, definitely go to the
SSDI (if you haven't already - just do a google search
for SSDI and it should come up). Obits and marriage
records after 1940 (I assume the kids probably got
married after 1940, if they got married before that
they'll be in a WPA and easier to find) you'll
probably need to contact the county directly.
Definitely check the GenWeb page, they may have
indexes online or names of people volunteering to do
obit lookups.

My cousin is a professional photographer and
recommends Canon. My sister and my parents both got
Canon's and the pictures are amazing. The quality is
significantly better than my Nikon (though my Nikon is
not top of the line). They were fairly expensive but
since that is what we are using these days instead of
film cameras you have to consider the savings in film
and development - and in this case the savings on photocopies.

One place to do some comparative research *before* you invest, is to use the
website http://dpreview.com. You can search and compare by feature or
manufacturer or price range. There are also message boards attached to each
camera for owners to post comments (favorable or not). Then you can go to
your favorite retailer, hopefully when they have a sale. I first decided my
maximum $$ output, then used the "search for feature"--I knew I wanted my
new camera to be small, use a rechargable Lithium battery, and to have high
resolution settings and pixels within my budget amount. I also wanted some
manual control over the picture settings but I didn't want an SLR. Then I
sifted through the search results to see what I liked, watched the paper and
visited different stores.
Hope this helps.

You can find good clearance cameras at K-Mart. I bought two Olympus Digital
with 4 MP, FOR $68. each and they are point and shoot which work well with
text if you have a small tripod. I take pictures of pictures and can use
the software that comes with the camera to add text to photo's.
To use it with your computer you will have to have a type-2 USB hub, and
Windows XP is a good operating program for pictures saved to folders. You
are not going to learn all you want by next week so making copies is the
best way to go, until you get experience with a new camera. Bob Alloway

I am a firm believer in Clearance! I purchased my camera at Best Buy for a
fraction of what it would have cost. At the time it was being reduced from
"top of the line" to "mid-line" and they were trying to get rid of them. If
it
is clearanced because it was a sample on the shelf make sure you get the
warranty (I recommend the warranty anyways due to past experiences where an
item was
completely replaced three and 1/2 years after purchase because I had the 4
year plan). I did to a local (high-priced) camera store and asked questions
first, then found what I wanted on the clearance rack elsewhere. Best of
luck
with your camera searching!
