Beginning March 2nd, 2020 the Mailing Lists functionality on RootsWeb will be discontinued. Users will no longer be able to send outgoing emails or accept incoming emails. Additionally, administration tools will no longer be available to list administrators and mailing lists will be put into an archival state.
Administrators may save the emails in their list prior to March 2nd. After that, mailing list archives will remain available and searchable on RootsWeb
Dear Listers,
Perhaps, you can help me with this problem. We are looking for information on a Johann Georg ILG, his wife, Louisa and their children. They are listed in the 1870 census of Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. The older children were born in Ohio and the younger ones in Indiana. They first settled in Cincinnati before going to Indiana. What are some of the sources for Germans in Marion County that do not include births, marriages, deaths and the usual sources to search? We want to put the meat on our family research.
Thank you.

Hi Teresa
I have a question. Do the 3838 N Rural St address have all of Indiana? I
was told there that the person must die in Marion County or they would not
have it.

The State Health Department has now gone up to $8 per certificate, for
anywhere in the state of Indiana, but they do NOT have a complete set of
records. I always have better luck at the Marion County Health Department
(located at 3838 North Rural Street), but they get $13 for each CERTIFIED
copy. However, they do charge alot less for non-certified copies for
genealogy purposes, but that is only available on 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on
Wednesday's. They charge 25 cents for all death certificates from 1952 -
Present when they are non-certified and they must be members of the
individual requesting the records immediate family. Earlier records are
slightly discounted, but I am not certain what the fees are for those, if
they are not certified. I will make a call tomorrow and find out though. I
have been there many times and it is always well worth the trip.
I hope this helps. And you can check them out by going here:

in and get a copy of a death certificate in Marion county without having to
pay the $10 fee it asks for on the internet? The date of death is 1887 and
I know the certificate can only be found in Marion Co.
