St. Mary's Academy as I recall was ONE block East of North New Jersey St., in the 300 block.
Not sure of the street.
It was a very short street.
I was only a teenager at that time, remembering it now.
good wishes for you.

Hi and thanks for writing back-
Mom says it was St. Mary's Academy. She doesn't know what street. I
googled a St. Mary's church in Indy and tried to call them, but no one
answered. The web page says St. Mary's/ Immaculate Conception.
I hope they have an archive somewhere.
Thanks again,
Cece

Is still very much up and running. My mother graduated from Tech in 1946.
It originally was an Arsenal for the Civil war. It still has the tall iron
fence.
They have an email site. I will try to locate it for the board.
Which or where was the St. Mary's?

Hi,
I found out what schools my grandparents attended in the 1920's in Indianapolis.
I was wondering if any of you living in the area know of any archives I could search for information. Do the schools still exist?
St. Mary's School and Tech .
Thank You,
Cece

The link above will take you to the 1840 Marion County IN transcription by
Diane Richter. She has transcribed Lawrence Township Ward 1, which has been
edited; and, Lawrence Township Ward 2, which has not been edited as yet.
If you have any corrections to this census transcription please send them to
me.

Hi,
My great-grandfather, Alfred Tarleton SINKER and his wife
Rebecca nee COATES lived in Indianapolis and were members
of a literary society named 'The Fiat Lux'. Apparently, in 1876
he was vice president of the society according to some papers
which which are in our family's possession.
Has anyone else ever come across references to this society?
I was wondering how long it existed and if there are any records
which still might exist.
- Ed Sinker
The Genealogical Society of Marion County will hold its next meeting this
Saturday, August 13, 2005 at Crown Hill Cemetery Waiting Station. Please enter at
the rear of the building, down the steps.
The Executive meeting begins at 9:00 am with discussion about the future of
GSMC. This is a very important meeting and we would enjoy members input so
please plan to attend.
The Regular meeting begins at 10:30 am. Ron Darrah will talk about
"Publishing Your Family History". If you're thinking about publishing your family
history this is the meeting to attend! Ron gives a very interesting and
informational talk on this subject. And, also, this will be the first opportunity to use
our new projector puchased with help from grant money received from the
Indiana Genealogical Society.
We will also be celebrating GSMC's 10th Birthday! Cake and punch will be
served following the regular meeting.
Hope to see you there!
Darlene Anderson
Executive Director
You might want to contact www.hepl.lib.in.us This is Hamilton East Public
Library (formerly Noblesville Library - the county seat) They have an
"Indiana Room" dedicated to Central Indiana/ Hamilton County genealogy. The
staff there has been very helpful.

I would just like to mention that thanks to Bob's enthusiasm I found
a completely unknown part of our family in only about a week after
subscribing to this list!
I can't really thank him enough!
