Dear List,
I would like to thank those who have helped me out this past week.
I would like verification of the sons listed below and if there were any daughters born of the union between James & Hannah RHOADS. In the Genealogical Society of Marion County, there is a published book of probate records from Jan, 1830 to Aug 1852. If by any chance, someone has a copy or could do a look-up for James RHOADS (Surname could be spelled Rhodes or Roads) who died in 1844, I'd appreciate it. I'm willing to pay for the copies & time for researching.
Possibles sons of James & Hannah RHOADS.
James, Jr. born abt. 1794, NJ m Hope ? of NJ (first name could be wrong)
Joseph R., born abt. 1797, NJ m Mariah of NJ
Hiram, born abt. 1805, NJ m Mary of Ohio
Samuel B, born abt. 1806, NJ m Susannah of SC
There was a Charles S. Roads in 1840 in Wayne Twp. census born between 1790-1800. He was not found in Marion County 1850 census.
Thank you again for your help.

Grandparents came to IN from Southern Kentucky about 1910 or so.
Grandfather worked for Pennsylvania railroad.
In later years, upon retirement, he was able to buy a very small house.
He died in the 1950's in Indianapolis, IN.
Would there be a Copy of the Deed on file somewhere, which might give
information about him and his family in Kentucky ?
Thank you for information & advice.

Donnagene---you go girl !!!
Thank you for such an informative e mail.
1. I did send for Bridget's death certificate, and received it just this
past Friday. It does tell her parents, and I am so happy to have that info.
I have her death date, and her obit. Since Edward died so young, Bridget
remarried John Kelly, and her son supplied death info.to the coroner about
Bridget.
2. I would love to send for John Smith's death certif. but I don't know
where or when he died.
3. I sent away for John Kelly's death certif., and I also found out who his
parents were.
4. Yes-that was my GG Uncle John and Aunt Rhoda. I sent away for their d.
certifs. too, and Aunt Rhoda died first, and Uncle John knew her surname
(Kline) and nothing else was filled in.
5. I have Bridget and family for 1900 but not 1910.
Yes, Anna Francis married Albert "C"lendening, and their first born was Mary
"A".
Once again, thank you-I learned a few dates I can add to my chart.
Would you send the book/page # that you found for Edward Smith's death, just
in case it is him?
Many Thanks,
Cece

The city directory will not give you what you want. It tells that a person
was there and his occupation and address sometimes. It gives the name of the
wife's husband if a widow.
Send to Indianapolis, Marion Co for Bridget's death certificate. This will
tell or might tell her parents. Send for Edward's death cert. It will most
likely tell his parents as Bridget was still living and would have known as
well as where in Northern Ireland he was born.
I found an Edward A Smith that died March 15,1886 Indianapolis, Marion
Co.,IN.
I found Bridget's marriage to John Kelly 16 Jan 1889 Marion Bk 585 and Bk 3
pg 65. Their application should tell who their parents were.
Also found John Edward's marriage to Rhoda E. Kline 21 Jun 1911 Marion
Co.,IN.
Do you have Bridget and children on the 1900,and 1910?
I found Anna Frances with her mother in 1910. It looks like she married an
Albert Glendenning and had a daughter, Mary K..Is this right?
I find Bridget in the 1889 and 1890 city directory in Indianapolis
residing at 336 S. Illinois. That is all it tells online.

Hello,
I am still trying to find my GG Grandfather, and it was suggested I try the
city directories, as he died between census.
If anyone has the 1880-1885 Indianapolis directories, please look for Edward
Smith, who married Bridget Breen. (I don't know the year or where they
married, but she came to America in 1880.)
They had a daughter Anna Francis in 1883 and a son John Edward in 1885.
According to Bridget's obit in 1931, Edward (the subject) died in 1884 or
1885.
He also went by the name Captain Edward Smith.
Thank you so much,
Cece
