Hello:
Thought that i would try this again. Im looking for anyone working on a
WILSON line, in Marion county Indiana in the 1840's. Im looking for the parents of
Elizabeth C.(Libbie)WILSON said to be born in Indianapolis INdiana in 1842.
Parents unknows, except father may have been from KY and mother NC according to
a Holt CO. MO census for 1870, but could be wrong as there were 2 other
mistakes on that census. She married Joseph WARREN in Iowa City, Iowa on
Christmas day, 1862. They had four sons, Jesse, William, James and Joseph Alpha
WARREN. They did not name any of their sons after Josephs father, so maybe Libbies
father could have been the same as one of her sons. I know they lived in Grand
Island Nebraska and also benson, Holt County MO, before going to Goodland,
Sherman Co, Kansas in 1887. I have alot on the WARREN side if someone needs
help. Hopeing to find help on this WILSON line. Thank you Maggie WARREN COUGHLAN

Hi everyone,
I located a relative on the 1930 census that I am hoping you can help me with.
His name was Phillip McMillian/McMillan (born 1889 in Nebraska) and he was married to Mary/Marie Irene Mahoney (born May 1896 in Nebraska). Together they had 3 children. Betty N? (born 1921 in Indiana), Badaline E. (born 1922 in Indiana) and Robert (born 1924 in Indiana). I have been trying to locate Robert. Since they lived in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1930, I was hoping that Robert decided to continue hanging out for the rest of his life there. :) Unfortunately, I am not having much luck in locating him.
Can any of you point me into the right direction?
I would appreciate it very much.
Thanks much,
Sue

I am asking for anyone's help. I need to find out how an ancestor spelled
his middle name. It was his mothers maiden name and would help me trace his
line. His name was Albert B. Summers. He died in Indianapolis and is
buried in
Crown Hill. I came back to Indy and went to the Indiana State museum and
Library downtown to find obit and no success. His middle name was
Ballou/Billew/Ballow something like that. He was born in Pa around 1825. I
am not sure of
his death date cause my "puter" went down and I lost all my work. But he
died
in the 1880s.
Boy could I use some luck and help.
I am in Orlando if I can return the favor to any one down here.

Here is the address to a Social Security site, Sometimes disregard the
middle initial, I just found a person who died in 2002. And her middle
name should of been "M" but was "F". But her maiden was Frey. Even my
grandparents went by their nickname instead of a christian name. So if
the dates seem right, check the person out.
If you happen to know which cemetery or know the list of cemeteries to
check, that was in that area. Or what religion, this could all help
narrow it down.

Have you tried the SSDI?
There are 11 Mary Sheets in IN, but most have a different MI. Try it for
yourself.

I don't have an answer about your mother but you may want to check out this
web page. I know some states won't open adoption records..but you can give it a
try. You could also go to the library and see if any births are listed in
local newspapers at your birth..Sometimes the birth mother will add a note to the
papers she signs......Good luck and I'd be intrested if you do find her and
the outcome.....

It sure is, Don. It gets so big it has to be trimmed back often. It's one
of the inexplicable things. The locals joke it gets its water from the "spring
in the clock."
I worked for a brief period on the top floor under the tree tower and got to
see the roots growing down through the roof. Amazing how such small roots
support such a big tree.
`We definitely are going to the Fort Wayne Library ASAP, and then to
Indianapolis for more research.

Yes, it is a treasure. I found my gr.grandfather's oldest brother in the
1860 census index, that wasn't available any place else but the NARA.
Years ago, of course.
My husband is a native of New Point, Decatur Co., IN, not too far from the
county seat at Greensburg...the city hall with a tree growing from the clock
tower. My grandfather was born in Worthington, Greene Co., IN in 1850's. That's
not a mistake. 1850's. My grandmother was his second wife and he had
grandchildren almost as old as she was, so that's why such a long time ago for his
birth.
So there is ever so much to check at Fort Wayne.

I have found so many of my families census records there. I also found my
GGGrandparents marraige license information therre and GGGrandma's brothers
marriage lisence at the same time. I found all of their children listed in
the census records from 1840 until 1880. It sure is a treasure trove of
information. I could spend a week solid there and not find everything I am
looking for in that time. I really need to get back there again and look
for some more.

Shirley;
When I was a youngster growing up in central Indiana in the early 1950's my
father always pointed out the tree on top of the clock tower in Greensburg,
Indiana every time we drove through there. I have not returned to that area
in years. Is the tree still there?

I just spoke to my husband. We will add Allen Co. Library on our list of
places to visit.
We were there about 6 years ago...I know they have moved and
computerized....and found his gr.gr.grandfather's ordination into the Whitewater Baptist
Church Association in 1852.
We also found where he preached in Pipe Creek Baptist Church,
Pennsylavaniaburg, Ripley Co., IN and even officiated at his children's weddings.
Allen Co. Library is a treasure that I envy here in VA.
