Hi All,
I have been a member of the INMARION list for a few years now. All of
you have been real helpful in showing me ways to find different things
about my family name "SCHAKEL" that come Wietershein Germany and
settled in Wanamaker Indiana.
I was wandering if anyone has a "Margaret Elizabeth Van Sickle" in
their family listing. Here is what I have about her.
Margaret Elizabeth Van Sickle married Milton Tatman who had a dauther
Lilly Blanche Tatman who married John Martin Toon who had a dauther
Ester Maree Toon who married Otto C Schakel, who lived in New Bethel
(now Wanamaker IN, (Franklin Twp)).
John Martin Toon was the son of Martin Stafford Toon and Marggaret Maze.
All of the above marriages should have been in the mid to late 1800's
and Ester Maree Toon marriage should have been around 1916.
Does any of this ties into any of your family listings.

Kay,
Crown Hill Cemetery is the largest and one of the very oldest. I have family buried there starting in 1872, but was around before that. They have great website and you can search for your ancestor's graves there on-line. The genealogy society has there offices there and will search for burial records at a nominal fee and mail to you. There is also the German Catholics Cemetery that is quite old as well. Hope this helps you find something.

Subject: [MARION COUNTY, IN] Names of Hospitals
I am searching for the names of all hospitals in Indianapolis in the 1880's. Would there be any records anywhere from these hospitals or names of persons employed in them.
Would there of been a place for an unwed Mother to have her baby other than the hospitals there in 1882.
What would be the oldest Chapel, Funeral Home etc name be, still in existence in Indianapolis.
Thanks for any help given.

Check out the Marion County InGenWeb site at <a href="http://www.rootsweb.com/~inmarion/index.html<http://www.rootsweb.com/~inmarion/index.html>"> Marion County, Indiana GenWeb</a>
You can get the hospital info from a 1880 city directory.
There were orphan asylums and the convent of the good shepherds. Lots of
places tried to place the orphans but very quietly.
Best of luck.
Central hospital was around back then. It is called Wishard now.

You might contact the organization at the following URL. It originally
started out as the Widows' and Orphans' Friends Society and ultimately, over
time, became the Children's Bureau of Indianapolis. They may be able to
tell you where the records are kept.

Dianne,
You need to take a break from all these lookups. I
went through the same thing, wanting to help but
finding it was, at times, just too exhausting. In
fact I felt guilty asking you to check those
Briggs names again. I know you think "if I just do
these three or four I will be finished" but they
just keep coming.
Thanks again,
Barb

I'm sorry. My mother's name was Harriett June (Rust) Bristow and she worked
there early to mid-1950.
Again, thank you.
