Monica,
I would really appreciate you looking up some things for me. I can't get
beyond my great grandfather William Courtney. My requests are as follows:
1. Birth certificate for William Courtney. I have him born in 1849,
possibly in February, in Franklin Township.
2. Birth certificate for Louisa L. Manners born April 24, 1852 in
Montgomery, Daviess Co,
3. Birth certificate for James Manners born August 6, 1827
4. Application for and the marriage license for James Manners and Sarah
Miller , married January 4, 1849 in Montgomery Co., Clark township
Monica, I don't know when they started keeping records of these thing but
appreciate anything you find to help me get past William Courtney.
Please let me know how much you need for this.
Sincerely, Charlotte Brookes
P. S. We are leaving October 1st for about 3 weeks.
Hi Joyce:
Why don't you write to the Indianapolis Star and News. They are and were
then the largest paper in Marion County. I'll bet they can find it in their
archives. Here's the URL. Go to the bottom and click on "Contact Us":

Subject: [MARION COUNTY, IN] Newspaper articles
There was an article in an Indianapolis newspaper about my father, Willard
Shannon, when he got home from Guadalcanal. He said it was a full page
because he was one of the first ones back. He doesn't remember which paper
but it was around Dec 1942-Jan 1943. I've written to the Marion County
library and they can't find it. Does anybody have any ideas of how I can
find
it? I can't go to Indiana. I live in SC.
Thanks,
Joyce

Hi List,
In two weeks, my dad and I will be going to the Allen County Public Library in Ft. Wayne, IN - the second largest place for genealogy records in the U.S. Just to let you know I will take requests to do a lookup for either census, death index, birth index, or marriage index. I will, however, request a contriubtion to defray costs of copies and postage. Please include the county and state; I am on more than one mailing list. Thanks.

".......they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights. Among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
Many have already lost their lives. We are about to lose our liberty (if current government requirements for additional surveillance are approved). That means the "pursuit of happiness" is now in severe jeopardy.
It is apparent that it must be our policy to wipe out terrorism wherever we find it at whatever cost. Otherwise what is the value of our life in this greatest of nations?
We cannot live in freedom if our liberty is so threatened by terrorists that we cannot freely move about and congregate as we choose.
Life without liberty has no value.

I would like to have some help in finding a person when she was just a little girl maybe between 3-5 years old in 1927.
My Grandfather Norman L. Schoen was a Indianapolis policeman. During a robbery he shot at a robber and one of the bullets went through car and hit a little girl. She was hospitalized and during her stay, my Grandfather went to see her every day and took her presents. This child became my mothers best friend. My mother was Betty Schoen. She was 5 at the time of this accident.
When I was a little girl between the age of about 6-10 I remember mother taking me to a ladies home out in a woods. There, this lady raised St. Bernard's. From the images I have in my mind this woman was a little on the heavy side and wore plaid flannel shirts and jeans. I never saw her other than at her home. The names Jeanette- Annette- for some reason keep rolling around in my mind, when I think of mom and this person.
If anyone would have any information PLEASE contact me. I want to learn more of my mother's child hood, for she talked very little of her experiences/
Mom's father was murdered March 6, 1928 in from of his home. The Schoen family lived in Irvington area of Indianapolis. Grandfather's father was Henry Schoen and his siblings are Waldo, Harold, Roy, and Cora.
Hope to hear from someone.

I do not have access to any Family History center. I need help finding a family on the census of 1850,
1860 and 1870. I bought the 1880 census and found them there. My 2nd great grand father was Conrad Bea/Bee. His is living with his daughter and son in law in 1880. Her name is Mary Hoffner. I know very little about him. He came to America in 1838. He was born in 1810 in Germany. I though that someone might own the census for the Co. for the years I have listed and could do a look up for me. The name is very unusal so should not be hard to find. Thanks,
Glee

I am trying to find an obit on James(Samuel or Lemuel) Pleasant. reportedly
died, Indianapolis, Feb. 1966. He was reportedly born1 April,1885, place
not known. His wife, Fanny or Fannie (maiden Spence or Spencer) was
reported as dying in Veedersburg,Fountain,Indiana inJuly of 1974. If you
could get me the name of a newspaper with this obit, or a copy of the obit,
itself, I would be very grateful. This is for my wife's genealogy search,
and she doesn't use the computer. Thank you for your time, Bob Ortman
