Surname: Schiffman, Abigt
-------------------------
Seeking informaton on Fred Schiffman and his wife, Pauline (Mary)Abigt
who were living in Indianapolis, Marion County, about 1910. I think Fred
was working in a car manufacturing company. Also, I found where her brother,
Arthur Frank Abigt was on the "Studebaker Employee List part #1" in 1927.
Does anyone know about the Studebaker plant that was in Indianapolis in
1927....I didn't know that they made them that early.
Also, are there City Directories for Marion County available and if so,
where. Thanks.

Surname: Dunn, Arnold
-------------------------
My Arnolds come from Va. possibly Fauquier or Culpeper County. Isaac Arnold
(1773-1858) was in Bracken County, Ky during the 1800 and 1810 Census.
During the 1820 and 30 Census he was in Boone County, KY. James J. Arnold
was born in 1817 and married in Gallatin county, Ky to Letha Wood.
In Bracken and Boone County in the 1800 to 1840 period was an Samuel Arnold
born about the same time as Isaac Arnold. They could be brothers. Samuel
Arnold also stated he was born in VA. and could be a possible source of
your branch.
Have you tried the Arnold Family Assoc. of the South. (AFAS)
It is on the web but I don't have the URL at this time.

Hello List,
I am seeking the parents and siblings of GEORGE W. BURNETT,
born in Indiana, November 15, 1862.
I have no idea the county. That was all I could find on census, death
certificate, etc.
On a tape, made when she was very old, his wife Mary, related this story told
to her by GEORGE.
George's mother was killed in an accident or died suddenly, when he was an
infant.
There were other children, don't know ages or how many. George was adopted by
Shoemaker/Shumaker?Shoebaker???
He lived with them until the courthouse burned. It destroyed the adoption
records. I don't know his age at the time this occurred. He was in Sumner
County, Kansas on April 14, 1900. On that day he married Mary M. Bell.
George said he couldn't have left if the records were still available for his
adoption. Reason unknown. When he left Indiana, he took back his birth name
BURNETT, and continued to use it until his death.
This is a brick wall. I would really appreciate any help or advise you could
provide.
If you have any information, you may Email me at JANETSQUAW(a)aol.com
Thank you in advance for your help.
Respectfully yours,
Jan

Christine,
I assume by now that you have the 1850 census entry for this family? It
shows different children than what you have. This is the best I can read it:
Marion County, Washington Twp, 1850, p,. 413
1066/1066 Aaron Watts 41 m 1000 Va
Francis 33 f Va
Charles 17 m Ind
??? 6 (10?) m "
John 9 m "
James 3 m "
Francis 11/12 m "
Elisabeth 15 f "
Elisa 13 f "
In 1860 there is:
Marion Co., Washington Twp, Broad Ripple, p. 0978
Family 0412 dwelling 0417
line 01A Watts Aaron male 51 yrs Ohio Farmer 2500/500
line 02A Francis female 44 yrs Ohio housekeeper
line 03A James male 12 yrs Indiana
line 04A Francis female 10 yrs Indiana
line 05A A. Johnson 7 yrs
line 06A Cyrus C. 5 yrs
1870:
Watts, Aaron IN MARION CO. WASHINGTON TWP p. 546
In 1840,
Watts, Aaron IN MARION CO. WASHINGTON TWP p. 278
In the BLM GLO records (web site), Aaron Watts "of Marion County" took up
land in Hamilton Co. on March 15, 1837
Legal description:
1 EœNW 9/ 17-N 3-E No 2nd PM IN HAMILTON
This is a FUN web site if you haven't played in it before:
http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/
Couldn't find any Aaron Watts in 1830 in Indiana, VA or OH. I'd almost bet
he was still unmarried and in the household of one of the other Watts in one
of those areas.
In fact, in the Indiana Marriage Records to 1850 there is this:
Bounel, Frances married Watts, Aaron on 15 Mar 1832 in Marion County,
Indiana
Well, I hope some of this is useful and new information. Gotta go
nightie-night!
Good luck,
Betty Moore
