By the way, I forgot to mention. The mother's married name proved to be the
key in locating my "missing" aunt. After over a year of searching I decided
to try a different route. I had the names of the maternal grandparents so I
wrote to the Noblesville County Library to see if I could locate obituaries.
The librarian couldn't locate their obits but using the mother's married name
she was able to locate on for her. That obit gave my aunt's married name to
her second husband and their location - Portland, Oregon. I never would have
thought to look in Oregon and had been concentrating my research in Indiana
near where I thought the mother would be located. Now I am eagerly awaiting
copies of obituaries of my aunt and her husband so I can make some additional
inquiries to churches or other organization. I am hopeful that I can learn
more about this unknown ancestor.

There are two applications -- one for male and one for female. There are 27
questions. Here are the ones I think give some valuable information:
Full Christian name (which my ancestors did not complete correctly!!!!)
Color
Where born
Present residence
Present occupation
Are the applicants nearer than second cousins
Father's name
Father's occupation
Father's place of birth
Same with mother
For my aunt's marriage certificate she needed a Consent of Parent or Guardian
since she was only 18. I was able to obtain her mother's married name at the
time. She was married 3 times between 1899 and 1918 and divorced twice which
I found very interesting.
Happy researching!

List:
I'm going to request marriage certificates from the Marion County microfilm department but wanted to gather specific marriage dates, if possible, before sending my request. Does anyone on the list have access to Marion County marriages from the early 1900s? Specifically, I'm looking for marriage dates for the following:
1. Lawrence F. Black and Ruby Arnold Bradburn (probably married between August 1918 and August 1919)
2. Jerome J. Felts and Ruby Arnold Bradburn (probably married in 1924 or 1925)
Thanks in advance for any help.

When I was at the Marion County archives a few years ago, the ladies were
extremely helpful. As long as you were within a year or two, they had no
problem getting the marriage information.
Ma
Conni-
What all information was on the marraige application? I have dates for many
ancestors, but I would like any more info the app. might give.

Marionites,
Does anyone know for whom the Herron Art Institute was named?
One of our Shelbers knew of the police/fireman site I asked about
earlier, so that question is answered.

Hello everyone,
I believe I have sent this to all the people who are Woodards or have
sent
me inquiries about Woodards over the last 2 years.
I have a photo- black and white 8 x 10, taken 1925-29 in Indianapolis,
of
about 35 people in a formal group. My father is in the front, a young
boy.
I do not recognize any of the adults in the picture but I can not
imagine
it is other than a Woodard group or function.
If anyone would like to see the picture I will scan it and send it
along.
If you are related to Ormond, please look at it.
Thanks,
Richard Woodard
Marionites,
I remember seeing a reference to a collection of materials on firemen
and policemen living in Marion Co in the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Does anyone know where I might have seen this?
Thanks much for your thoughts.

Rose,
Don't have it but it is on microfilm at the Indiana State Library in
Indianapolis. I visited and used their inventory of city directories to
trace my families moves from 1895 through 1945.

Hope this helps.

I'd like to get copies of marriage records for some ancestors who were married in Marion County. I have the complete names of the brides and grooms and I have a range of 2 years for each marriage (one is 1918/1919 and the other is 1924/1925). So far, I've gotten conflicting and confusing information from some governmental offices as to where I should turn for these records. Could someone on the list point me in the right direction? I'd like the name and address of the governmental office (clerk's office, health department, etc.) that could provide copies of these marriage records. I'd also like to know what the charge will be.
Thanks in advance.
