I would like to get a copy of an obituary for Thelma MORVILLE died January 1979 in Indianapolis, Marion, IN and Reuben MORVILLE died May 6, 2000 in Indianapolis, Marion, IN. Is there a local library that will do look-ups for obituaries? If there is, can someone give me the name and telephone number.
Thanking you in advance

Hi Sherry,
I have a Christian Quack who was born Dec 1855 in Germany and died in Indianapolis in 1923. He married Philipina Rafert (1856-1929) on 10 Nov 1888 in Indianapolis. I think they only had one child, Clara (1882-1966) who married Charles Honeck (1880-1928) on 25 Oct 1904. I have a picture of Christian Quack and his wife Philipina online at:

Let me know if you think there might be a connection.

Hello
As the List Manager for the Davis List, I have worked to help in anyway I
can to promote the list and help you find connections. Now, I am taking a
moment to ask your help.
I am hoping that any of you who might have a few minutes of time to spare,
would email out the email below to as many surname lists that you subscribe
to. I am currently working on building a Rogers/Rodgers Family data base and
it is hoped that if we get the word out of the site, we can find more family
connections to add to the database.
This same format is being tested and is being considered for the Davis
Family, but it depends on it's success. If, by building this site this way,
in a successfull manner, we might work together to also set up a simular site
for the Davis Family.

connections to the Rogers/Rodgers in your files, to visit our new site.

We are building a Rogers/Rodgers Family Database and would be very
interested in any Rogers/Rodgers marriages to your surname, that may be
lurking in your files, that you would share for the database.

Dear Kathleen,
Sorry for the delayed response. I visited Mt. Jackson Cemetery in mid
September and tried to locate grave sites. I received the following
information relative to burial lists. The lists are held by the Wayne
Township Trustee at 5401 W. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN.
Telephone 317-241-4191. I stopped by that office and viewed the listings.
I believe they had an alphabetical and chronological listing. Hope that
helps.

Surname: CUNNINGHAM, FLOOD, SHAW, SWADNER
-------------------------
Thomas Noble Butler
Live stock business strongly rivals agriculture as a means of prosperity
in Clinton county. So closely allied are the two, however, that men invariably
carry one as a side line to the other. Mr. Butler is engaged almost exclusively
in stock breeding, and he operates on a large scale. Some of the best horses
and stallions in the northern part of the state are in his possession,
which fact has given him an excellent reputation among the stock men of
the state and the country.
Thomas Noble Butler was born in Edinburg, Indiana, August 12, 1862, the
son of Daniel and Caroline (FLOOD) BUTLER. Daniel Butler was a native of
the Buckeye state, and when but a young man he came to Johnson county,
Indiana. In 1863 he moved to Lebanon, Indiana, where he entered the warehouse
and distillery business and engaged in horse breeding. He died there in
1873. Mrs. Caroline Butler died in 1908. Daniel Butler was a loyal Republican,
and attended the Presbyterian church. He was a member of the Independent
Order of Odd Fellows and was a thirty-second degree Mason.
Our subject received a common school education in the city of Lebanon,
and in 1895 he came to Frankfort, where he began the livery business. In
1901 he sold out and moved back to Lebanon, continuing the same trade,
Again, in 1904, he returned to Frankfort, where he is now located, giving
his time to the breeding profession, also the grain and feed trade. Mr.
Butler owns quite a number of fine stallions, chief among them being "Carter
B.," register number 6304, and "Famous," number 67028. The former is a
black French draft stallion, and has sired nearly three hundred colts,
over ninety per cent. Of his services. The later stallion is also much
in demand and is equal to "Carter B." Mr. Butler has builded a reputation
on these two animals alone. The first season for "Famous" was productive
of sixty colts.
Mr. Butler was married to Carrie SHAW, the daughter of John M. SHAW, of
Boone county. She died in 1900. Two children were left to Mr. Butler: Ruby
CUNNINGHAM, of Indianapolis, and Mary, of Lebanon. Mr. Butler was married
the second time to Jane SWADNER.
Fraternally, Mr. Butler is a member of the Improved Order of Red Men, the
Woodmen of the World, and the Loyal Order of Moose. Religiously, he attends
the Christian church, and politically, is a Republican.

Does anyone know anything about the I.O.O.F. Children's Home around
Indianapolis. My uncle told me he thought it was in Greenville, IN. My
father and his 3 brothers stayed there for a year. This would have been

Thanks for any help,

I would like to connect with the descendents of Arthur L. Gist from
Indianapolis. I believe that Arthur died in 1971 and his wife, Virginia,
died in 1995. Arthur may have been my grandfather. My father, Charles Edward
Linton, was born on June 22, 1925 in Owensboro, Daviess County, Kentucky.
His mother was Mary Thelma Linton. Arthur Gist, age 21 and a farmer, is
listed as his biological father on his birth certificate.
Thanks,

With regard to the Blues: Rosa B., Anna, and Wm. H., I wondered if they
could have been moved to Crown Hill from the Blue family cemetery that was
located near the northwest corner of 38th and Meridian. North United
Methodist Church dominates that corner now and in an early church history
book (there is a copy at the GSMC library) it is noted that when Maple Road
(38th Street) was widened around 1913, the cemetery was relocated to Crown
Hill.
Years ago I spoke to a long-time member of North Church whose
grandmother was Harriett Blue of the family near 38th & Meridian. Other
names possibly associated with this family are Hannah Blue and Gerard Blue.
Gerard bought a 32 grave lot at Crown Hill for the Blues and the Lancasters,
including a George W. Lancaster. >>
