Everyone interested in the OLD SOLDIER'S HOME --
The Indiana Soldiers' and Sailors' Children's Home was founded in 1865 to
provide care, education and maintenance to the orphaned and destitute
children of Civil War Union Army veterans. The Home is located approximately
two miles south of Knightstown, Indiana on State Road 140 and consists of 419
acres that include an administration building, children's dormitory cottages,
Morton Memorial School, a hospital, dairy farm, camp grounds and recreational
facilities. Children from the ages of 4 to 17 are cared for with each child
being eligible for vocational training or college at state expense.

Hello to Will, Carolyn and ALL,
Sorry to be so late in answering email to the list.... I have been so very
busy with family. My Father in law has just recently had to go into a
Nursing Home and we are taking care of ALL the old home, his personal
belongings, paper work, etc etc... plus trying to do our everyday living.
Really a tough time.
ANYWAY ---

I am researching the DeGolyer Family and Have
run into a problem that someone could help me with.
The relative is:
Elsie Naomi (DeGolyer) Brosius
Born 1864 in Rush Co. Ripley Twp.,Indiana
Married John P. Brosius 1882 in Indiana
Died 1935 Indianapolis, Marion Co., Indiana
Buried in Knightstown Cemetery lot 1135, Indiana
I know that Indiana did not require birth certificates
until 1882 so I wrote to Marion County Archives to
get a copy of the Death certificate.
Received a letter from the Indiana Health and Hospital
Corp of Indiana which said they had no record.
I am trying to find documentation of her fathers and mothers
name. Does anyone have access to information that might
help. Death certificates, Obituaries, Census, Cemetery records?
I appreciate any help,
Paul Traylor

Hi Listers,
I'd be glad to know if any of you have any information on the WEISHAAR
family, from Beech Grove. After serving in WWI, Leslie John WEISHAAR, son of
??? WEISHAAR and Minnie McCURDY, was stationed at Fort Ethan Allen, Winooski
(Burlington), VT, where he met Helen McGreevy, got married, and started a
family. (In return, I will be happy to provide 3 generations of family info
on the Vermont Weishaars.)
Thanks for any information or pointers,
Liz Weishaar

Would someone be able to look up this family in the 1860 Marion Co. IN census, please?
