Hi Don,
I got the book "Marion County, Indiana Birth Records July 1882 to
Sept 1907" from the web site for In Marion county that Barbara hoost. There
are several other books avail also.
Here is the URL for the books :
"http://members.aol.com/barbhutch1/MarionCoIN-Homepage-Index.html" Then
scroll down to were it says " Genealogical Society of Marion County Home
Page" , then click on it, That will take you to a screen that says GSMC has
moved. click here, that will take you to the new home page, then scroll down
to near bottom of page to "For list of publications available from GSMC"
click here, that will take you to the list of publication that are available
for you to order from them.
I check for Rose and could not find anything listed for KAHLER. I did
find one listing for KOHLER.
1. Phileppine KOHLER from Germany, born about 1877, married August
HELMSMIER, from Germany, born about 1877, was a labor, 2nd child, male, no
name, born 02/13/1903, lived at 2551 Roosevelt in Indianpolis
Hello Shack
I have been trying to find someone with this book. I know my descendant is
in it but I
don't know what page. Sally Skelton was born Sept 4, 1881-82 in
Indianapolis or
Marion co. IN. It states she is the daughter of John Franklin Skelton and
Sarah Ann
Bolton. I would like to know if it tells of an address where the family
was staying.
Actually Ellen McCulla-McCulley was the one who had Sally. I don't know why
it was
listed like this unless it was because Ellen was unwed at the time. Can
you still
purchase this book. Who sells them and what is the cost. Any help will be
most
appreciated. Evelyn

Hello:

for 1842? i was told there arn't any birth records that early. im looking
for my great grandmother Elizabeth C. WILSON born there on 22 NOv 1842.
thanks maggie
Thank you Shack,
The name of Walter George Wilson's wife was Louise Mills. My parents told me
that she was born in Jamestown Indiana Boone County, but I can't find
anything on her. She left my Grandfather when my Dad was two years old and
went to Chicago. My Dad and his brother and sister lived in the Children's
home in Indianapolis until he was 12. I checked there but no one listed.
Walter George Wilson and Louise Mills were to have been married in
Indianapolis around 1909. My Uncle was born in 1910 and my Dad 1914, I
don't know the sisters birth date. They were all born in Indianapolis.
Walter George Wilson was born Jan 13, 1887. I received his social security
application and it says that he was born in Philadelphia, Hancock County,
Indiana. He was Indianapolis by 1907. There isn't any records for me to try
on as far as his mother and father. I remember that they used to say that my
Grandfather was born in New Palestine Indiana which is also Hancock County.
There wasn't much of any relationship with his family. His parents were to
have died before I was born -1944. I remember my mother talking about how my
Grandfather's brother Ralph would come for visits and his brother Bert
(aka)Albert. They also spoke of the sister by the name of Alta married name
Thompson. They were to have lived in Indianapolis.
I did check with Hancock county and they don't have any listing for Walter G.
Wilson as far as a birth. Also no info on Ace Wilson or Hulda Coffey.
I will start trying for the Kentucky areas. I don't have a clue as to
anything on this family. Walter G. Wilson is buried in Crown Hill. I had
them check for Ace Wilson but no one there by that name. On the death
certificate of Walter George Wilson the father's name is listed as Asa B.
Wilson on the social security application his name is listed as Ace Bell
Wilson.
I do appreciate all your efforts. Thank you

Hi Cheri,
I was just looking through the "Marion County Birth Record for July
1882 to September 1907" book. I was not able to find anything on Ace Wilson &
Hulda Coffey having any children in Marion county during this time. I was
able to find a couple of listings for Coffey's. It seems that most of the
COFFEY'S are from some were in Kenturcky. You might want to start looking in
that area for more information about the WILSON'S. If you can send me
Walters wife name I will check it and see what I can find. I don't know if
this will help but you never
know. <;-)) Shack (John A Schakel Jr, Wanamaker Indiana (living in Tampa

Regarding Crown Hill:
I guess that it's all a matter of who you are looking for.
I have received a lot of info on the people I was searching for at Crown
Hill. In fact, out of about 20 requests, I received at least 3 or 4 pages
on each and every one...well worth the $5 for each name.
Now my question: is there some type of index that I can search (or have
searched) to look for a divorce in Marion County between 1895-1910 and a
marriage in Marion County between 1895-1910? The state of Florida, for
example, has that type of information from every county on microfiche which
is carried in the Clayton Genealogical Library here in Houston but I
haven't seen anything like that for Marion County or Indianapolis or Indiana.
Thanks in advance for any answers/guidance.

Bill,
I sent Crown Hill $5 and they sent me the death date (which I already
knew) and one other minor piece of information that was not even
correct.
The caveat on their form that not much information was collected should
be heeded.
They were very helpful over the phone.
