I am looking for any information regarding a GEORGE ALBERT DAVIDSON.
The only information I currently have is that in 1944 he was married to an
Ann Violet
Davidson and on December 21, 1944 they had a daughter. The baby was born at
Methodist Hospital-- Indianapolis, IN. Attending physician was Dr. H.W. Goss.
If anyone has any information regarding George--it would be greatly
appreciated.
I am trying to search this for my aunt. George is her birth father, and she
doesn't
really want to talk to her mom about this search.
Thanks for any help...

hey Robin,
No need to apologize, we all make mistakes, so don't worry about it.
okay?
Thanks for the name of that little cemetery. I noticed it about 2 months ago
but every time I drove by it there was too much traffic to try to pull off
the road safely since there is absolutely no place to park. Anyway I think
it's a neat little cemetery because it's so old. You say there's a threat of
it being destroyed?? What a shame!!! A total disrespect for our ancestors!
As for the Oaklandon cemetery, I've been there several times. I've
noticed there are quite a few Klepfers there! Again I have no family in that
cemetery either, at least none that I know of.
Thanks for responding to my message.

Yes, I know of the cemetery you are speaking of. I'm so sorry I jumped to
conclusions....please forgive me! I do know several of the Klepfers are
buried in Oaklandon Cemetery on Oaklandon Road. I think the cemetery in
which you speak is called the Day Cemetery around these parts. It's on
private property and a Mr. Rodabaugh of this township has concerns about
this cemetery being destroyed in the near future. The land (about 5 acres)
is for sale and it's right next to a Christian Camp - the cemetery is not
easy to find.

Is anyone looking up Samuel H.Vandman family that lived in Warren Twp,
Marion Co. IN during the 1850 census. The census indicated he was born at
Ohio in 1820 and his wife Mary born at Kentucky in 1822. They had children
of John, James, Joseph, Mary, Samuel and Martha. I am interested in finding
out if Eveline (Howard) McMullen ,who was living with them at the time with
her daughter, was the sister or sister-in-law of Samuel's wife Mary.

Unknown cemetery in Oaklandon. (technically it is Northeast side of

Located on Sunnyside Road, 3/10ths mile north of 79th Street.

This is being sent to several county and surname lists, a few individual

Anthing with a connection to this family is getting this note.
Seeking all information on the family of James Harvey STRAIN.
James Harvey STRAIN 1823 Marion Co., IN -1901 Montgomery Co., MO
marr 1842 Lydia ARISMAN 1820 VA - 1897 Montgomery Co., MO
Children:
Mary Mariah 1846- bef 1901
Sarah Jane 1847-
Louisa Ellen 1849-bef 1901
Nelson Clark 1851-1935 m Sarah HOFFMAN moved to Tulare, CA
Nancy Ana 1855-
Margaret 1856- bef 1901
Charles Wilson 1858 -1922 m. Mary HOFFMAN moved to Twin Falls, ID
Joseph Marion 1844-1891
The HOFFMAN girls are sisters, daughters of William HOFFMAN of Montgomery
Co., MO. William HOFFMAN and Sarah Hoffman STRAIN is buried in McQuoid
Cemetery, Montgomery, MO, as are a son of Charles Wilson and my great-aunt
Annie May STRAIN (1909-1911).
Annie May is the daughter of James Joseph H. STRAIN (1876/8 to ca1932) and
Anne Lucy JENKINS (1881-1923, daughter of William JENKINS and Sarah Hunt
JENKINS of Audrain Co., MO) of Montgomery County MO. JJH STRAIN used the
given name of Joseph in 1900 (Upper Loutre Twp, MO) and James in 1910 (Upper
Loutre Twp, MO). I have just recently discovered that this family was living
in St. Louis City between about 1913 and at least 1923, though I still need
to find that census entry.
I have the strongest feeling that JJH STRAIN may be the son of the above
mentioned Joseph Marion STRAIN, but I have no evidence at all. JJH is the
only "unattached" STRAIN in Montgomery County, MO living on his own in 1900
at the age of 22 or 24. I'm pretty sure that JJH is not a child of Charles
Wilson. I'm less sure that he is not a child of Nelson Clark. I have never
seen anything on Joseph Marion so I'm trying to focus on him. JJH was a
sawmill worker in case that rings any bells.
The only Joseph indexed in Missouri in 1870 (that I can find) is in Vernon
County which I believe is too far away. Where was Joseph Marion STRAIN in 187
0? Where did Jos. Marion STRAIN die? guess a big clue would be...who did Jos.
Marion STRAIN marry, if anyone. Who did the sisters of CW, NC and JM marry?
Any STRAIN researchers out there interested in this family, please contact me.

Fellow researchers,
I am looking for information about Martin M RAY and wife Rachel
COTTERMAN. Martin was a brother of Indiana's governor James RAY.
The family lived and operated a hotel at South and Delaware St in the
mid 1800s.
If anyone knows this family, I would love to talk to you.
If anyone knows of any books available regarding early Indianapolis
hotels, etc, I would appreciate a post.
Thank you,

Thanks everybody for your suggestions on searching for my grandfather's
records. Does anyone have CD#354 or CD#356 that are for sale by Ultimate
Family Tree? If so could you search for a passenger listing for John
(Johan) Robert Konrad (Conrad) who listed his emigration as 1880. I would
say search years 1879 thru 1882. I would appreciate any enties that you
find that might fit the meager current data I have listed herein.

Message-ID: <19991011.203530.-540999.0.rjkonrad(a)juno.com>
Hi everybody. I am looking for help on researching the genealogy of my
grandfather John Robert Konrad. The following is the only information
I've been able to collect from US Census Records for 1900 and 1910:
KONRAD, John Robert b. June 1856 in Austria, served a hitch in the Alpine
Ski Patrol, emigrated to Marion County, Indiana in 1880 where he lived
until his death in the winter of 1912-1913 from a massive heart attack
during a blizzard. John's parents were both Austrian.
The 1900 US Census indicates he had first papers and was a farmer. No
address was given in this census but I believe he may have been farming
at 5004 W. Morris St, Indianapolis, Indiana at that time. My father owned
this property and I lived there from 1930 -1944.
The 1910 census indicates he was naturalized, lived at 1430 Kappes St,
Indianapolis, Indiana, and was a laborer in a factory. He was married to
Katie (Katherine?) Mootz who was born in Indiana in December 1972 and
died in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1926. Katie's parents were both born in
Germany.
John & Katie raised 6 children, of which my father Henry was the oldest.
My father graduated from Assumption Catholic School in 1913. The other
children were Rachel Konrad Huddleston, Joe, Mary Konrad Smith
Miller,Valentine Martin Konrad (Conrad), & Elizabeth Konrad Bristow
(living). We lived at 857 Pershing Avenue and 5004 W. Morris St while I
was growing up and Dad did own the property at Kappes Street as well. I
believe he as oldest child bought these properties from the estate when
grandma died.
I have checked many of the genealogy web sites for information on my
grandfather John with no hits. Besides the US Census Records I have
checked Germans to America series for clues. I found no entry in this
series that exactly matches the data in the census records. I have made a
listing of possible matches assuming the 1880 emigration date is not
correct as enumerated in the 1900 census. My best match shows a passenger
Johan Conrad, farmer, age 25 arrived in New York on the Amsterdam on 11
October 1881.
I found no record of my father or my grandmother Katie in my first
examination of the 1920 US Census records. I did recently find a
reference that The Indiana Historical Society has an index of the
Naturalization records that were compiled as a WPA project. Hopefully I
will find grandpa on that list and be able to get a second set of records
on his emigration date and find a listing of his parents and town of
birth.
I would appreciate any information you might have on my Konrad ancestors
or where I might find additional records. I know I have to visit
Indianapolis ( Marion County) to search church, cemetery, public health
records for births and deaths, and circuit court for marriage records. I
hope to get there by March.
Thanks,
Bob Konrad, rjkonrad(a)juno.com
