John,
My Konrad ancestors and family not in those counties. In my genealogy
searches I had a contact looking for Emerich Konrad of Austria. He died
in Terra Haute which is in Vigo County if my Indiana history is any good.
Emerich had a daughter Marie born in TH. Those were the only Konrad's in
that search.

To All,
I am trying to find a death date for some Great Grandparents that
lived and were buried in Marion County (most likely Lawrence, IN). I
have very little to go on except their name's would be Walter and Ella
(Bain or Beain) Gates. They were married in 1902 and I know they were
still around in 1927. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely

Hello List!
I have an obituary from December 1968 of a relative who lived in Indianapolis at 517 N. Concord Street. Would anyone happen to know if that address is still valid? If so and someone could drive by to take a photo, I would certainly appreciate getting a picture of the house.
TIA,
Donna (Brock) Strong
Bob,
For some reason I know the Konrad name from either Vigo or Knox
counties in Indiana. Any idea why I'd know that name, maybe in reference
to Kixmiller, Vollmer, Pielemeier or Ritterskamp surnames. I'm thinking
this may be one of the names lost in crash of my genealogy program a
couple years ago.
Thanks,
John
Hi everybody. I am looking for help on researching the genealogy of my
grandfather John Robert Konrad. The following is the only information
I've been able to collect from US Census Records for 1900 and 1910:
KONRAD, John Robert b. June 1856 in Austria, served a hitch in the Alpine
Ski Patrol, emigrated to Marion County, Indiana in 1880 where he lived
until his death in the winter of 1912-1913 from a massive heart attack
during a blizzard. John's parents were both Austrian.
The 1900 US Census indicates he had first papers and was a farmer. No
address was given in this census but I believe he may have been farming
at 5004 W. Morris St, Indianapolis, Indiana at that time. My father owned
this property and I lived there from 1930 -1944.
The 1910 census indicates he was naturalized, lived at 1430 Kappes St,
Indianapolis, Indiana, and was a laborer in a factory. He was married to
Katie (Katherine?) Mootz who was born in Indiana in December 1972 and
died in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1926. Katie's parents were both born in
Germany.
John & Katie raised 6 children, of which my father Henry was the oldest.
My father graduated from Assumption Catholic School in 1913. The other
children were Rachel Konrad Huddleston, Joe, Mary Konrad Smith
Miller,Valentine Martin Konrad (Conrad), & Elizabeth Konrad Bristow
(living). We lived at 857 Pershing Avenue and 5004 W. Morris St while I
was growing up and Dad did own the property at Kappes Street as well. I
believe he as oldest child bought these properties from the estate when
grandma died.
I have checked many of the genealogy web sites for information on my
grandfather John with no hits. Besides the US Census Records I have
checked Germans to America series for clues. I found no entry in this
series that exactly matches the data in the census records. I have made a
listing of possible matches assuming the 1880 emigration date is not
correct as enumerated in the 1900 census. My best match shows a passenger
Johan Conrad, farmer, age 25 arrived in New York on the Amsterdam on 11
October 1881.
I found no record of my father or my grandmother Katie in my first
examination of the 1920 US Census records. I did recently find a
reference that The Indiana Historical Society has an index of the
Naturalization records that were compiled as a WPA project. Hopefully I
will find grandpa on that list and be able to get a second set of records
on his emigration date and find a listing of his parents and town of
birth.
I would appreciate any information you might have on my Konrad ancestors
or where I might find additional records. I know I have to visit
Indianapolis ( Marion County) to search church, cemetery, public health
records for births and deaths, and circuit court for marriage records. I
hope to get there by March.
Thanks,
Bob Konrad, rjkonrad(a)juno.com

In Hutchinson's 1870 Directory of Indianapolis, there is a Benj. F. Covey,

There are NO Covey's listed in the index of Union Chapel Cemetery,

Hi Matt!
Thanks so much for your note! I'm not sure about the Richardson
family and a connection to Texas, but the Denton family for sure is.
Denton, Texas, both the city and the county, was named for my cousin John
Burnard Denton who was with Stephen F. Austin in the 1830s. He was killed
in battle with Indians. I have a page devoted to stories about him (some of
the old ones are quite humorous!) on my Denton Family website
(http://www.acun.com/dentons).
There are also some related families such as the Birds for whom
areas in Texas were named.
My Marion CO family, mostly Montgomery and Richardson, seemed to
have stayed put in Indiana.
Blessings!
Sue

hi
Sue,
I after scanning your message, it was like reading a map of the north
Dallas area,
since there are many towns there like RICHARDSON, DENTON, etc. I heard that
many people from the midwest settled in Texas, and was wondering if there
may
be a connection between your Richardsons and Dentons, and the families that
these Texas towns were named after? I grew up in Richardson in the late 60s
&
70s.
good luck,
Matt Verona
Houston Texas
do you have any information on kenneth williams? or
pearl carey brinker? or a william c. brenker? william
came to indianapolis in 1852 and i believe he was
naturalized there before heading out west.

Was this Tom Silvey the son of William and Nancy (Mosely) Silvey? And
did he have two sisters, Anna and Martha Jane? Maybe we have the same
Tom Silvey. Pat
