Thank you, Marla Eaheart Millsap, for connecting the Ambrose Rucker family to the Rucker
and Ehart families of Culpepper Co. VA. Your information may be very useful in this
search!
I am familiar with "The Rucker Family Genealogy" by Sudie Rucker Woods (1932). A
fourth reprinting of this book is in the works and I am submitting new information on the
known descendants of Ambrose and Miranda (Haas) Rucker of LaPorte Co. Indiana. Ambrose
Rucker, 2nd child of Isaac Rucker, from page 107. (Revisions due date 9-1-98).
Ambrose married Miranda Haas on 8 Oct 1825 at Amherst Co. VA. I would like to add some
information about the move from Amherst Co. to LaPorte Co. Indiana. Two children still
living in the household in 1850 were born ca 1832 and 1833 in Ohio. I have no idea WHERE
in Ohio. Can you help?
In 1844, Ambrose Rucker paid school taxes at LaPorte Co. IN, for 4 children (unnamed). In
1846, he paid taxes for:
Milla Rucker, 6, John Rucker, 8, Isaac Rucker, 12, Martha Rucker, 14, Lucy Rucker, 19, and
M. Adkins, 15 (female). Who was the girl, M. Adkins?
In 1850, the household of "Andrew" [sic] Rucker of Scipio Twp. included: Andrew
[sic], 50, b VA, Miranda, 46, b VA, Martha, 18, b OH, Isaac, 17, b OH, and John, 13, b
IN.
I suspect Lucy Rucker married someone in LaPorte Co. bet 1846 and 1850 -- who?
I suspect Martha Rucker married someone in LaPorte Co. bet 1850 and 1855 -- who?
I suspect dau Milla Rucker died bet 1846 and 1850.
In 1860, Ambrose, Miranda, along with sons Isaac and John were living at Kelly Township,
Warren County, Illinois. Ambrose was still alive in 1870.
