Would like more info. on family of Edgar M. HOTCHKISS (age 28) b. CT and wife, Lillian
(PITCHER?) (age 24) b. NY who are listed on Clinton, La Porte census - page 323A. Four
children listed: Berton H., age 8; Ella M, age 6; Claude A. age 4; & Robert, age 1.
Edgar's occupation is listed as RR Agent & Telegrapher. Would like info. on what
possible RR and where in Clinton would he live. Are there birth records for 1876/79? I
believe that Edgar married someone else in 1883 in Idaho and would like to confirm. Any
divorce records for Clinton Co. 1880-83? City directories that might list this family
before and after 1880? Any help appreciated.

I was going to reply to you on GenConnect when the boards came back up, but
now since you posted here, here I go... and hopefully someone else will
catch any mistakes I make or any oversights.
First off, I didn't observe any Hotchkiss on the plat maps I mention here,
but from the 1892 plat maps, the following railroads pass through Clinton
and Cass townships.
"Louisville, New Albany and Chicago RR " run north/south through Clinton and
Cass TWPs. Looks like stations (or runs through) Westville (New Durham
TWP), Alida (Clinton), Haskell Station (Clinton), Wanatah (Cass), and
Joprice (Cass).
"Baltimore and Ohio RR" runs East/West through Alida in Clinton TWP. and
then Union Mills in Noble TWP.
"Chicago and Grand Trunk RR" runs through Haskell Station in Clinton TWP and
then on to Union Mills in Noble TWP.
"Pittsburgh, Fort Wayne & Chicago RR" runs through Wanatah in Cass TWP and
then Morgan in Cass Twp and then on to Hanna in Hanna TWP.
"New York, Chicago and St. Louis RR" runs through Joprice in Cass TWP and
then on to Thomaston Station in Hannah TWP.
LOCATIONS:
Westville is 1.5 miles north of the north edge of Clinton TWP
Alida in Section 5 of Clinton TWP.
Haskell Station is in Section 17 of Clinton TWP.
Wanatah in right at the southern border of Clinton TWP but within
Cass TWP.
Joprice is in section 8 of Cass TWP, 2 miles south of Clintion TWP.
Union Mills is 2 miles east of Clinton TWP
Hannah is 2 miles SE from the SE corner of Clinton TWP.
Thomaston Station is 4 miles south of the SE corner of Clinton TWP.
If you have the names of those households appearing before and after your
Hotchkiss family in the census, perhaps I can find those names on the plat
map and zero in on which station was closest to your people.

WHAT SHOULD YOU POST?
1. Questions about your ancestors. Give as much detail as you can.

4. Genealogy societies should feel free to post about their society and their websites.
5. Book reviews of genealogy books are reasonable to post. A list of books is not, but sharing a good genealogy book you've found is a good idea.
6. Links to personal blogs that are about genealogy. They can be your blog or another. Even if the blog has ads, that is not a problem.
7. New collections on various genealogy sites that are relevant. We don't want advertisements, but if you find an interesting collection on Ancestry, FamilySearch, Library of Congress, or some other site that has relevance to the list, let people know.
