Joseph D Hill - son of Ebenezer & Hannah (Barber) Hill, MICH - INDIANA colorado
I am trying to locate the family and any information on joseph D. Hill and/or his sister
MARY MELISSA HILL NYE HALL & any other siblings or ancestros that "went west.
Mary was married twice and helpe the est. the COlorado Salt Works near Denver. She
married Nye first and then Hall.
Joseph D. Hill, was the son of Ebenezer & Hannah M. (Barber) Hill. His brother John
C. Hill was also in the 44th but stayed in laGrange CO., Indiana
He was born in 1839 in Michigan (proabaly Oakland Co.,). He mustered into Co. H, 44th
reg. Indiana Vol. Infantry from LaGrange Co., Indiana on Nov. 22, 1861 as a private. When
he joined the service of his country he was 5'&5.5" tall, had dark blue eyes,
black hair and his occupation was a farmer. He mustered out on Sept. 14l, 1865. He was
also in Co. G., 9th Indiana Vol. Inf. He filed for his pension April6, 1883 and received
certificate #399, 842 from Colorado. His widow, Laura G. Hill , field for his pension on
Aug. 25th, 1894 in Colrado and got #600.630.
