I've "rescued" an old photograph identified as Aunt Lucy TROYER and family.
The photograph was taken at the Sinclair Studio in Little River, Kansas,
likely sometime in the 1890's. Lucy and her husband appear to be in their
30's at the time with three children appearing to be about 3 to 8 years old
at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to Lucy's name, someone
has also written "Grandma FEIKERT'S Sister" and "Mr. TROYER holding
Marcella
TROYER".
Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information
regarding Lucy and her family:
Lucy A. ?, born May 1860 in OH married Albert L. TROYER (b. May 1860 in
Lagrange Co. IN) sometime between 1880 and 1883. The couple had at least
one child, a son, Carl William TROYER b. 19 Mar 1886 in KS. Albert L.
TROYER was the son of Ezra TROYER (b. 1838 in Holmes Co. OH) and Rebecca
Jane HIMES (b. 1845 in PA).
Census records provide the following information:
1900 census of Mitchell Township, KS:
Albert L. TROYER, age 40, born May 1860, married 20 years, born IN, parents
born OH/PA, a Grain Keeper
Lucy A. TROYER, wife, age 40, born May 1860, married 20 years, 5 children/2
living, born OH, parents born OH
Archie A. TROYER, son, age 18, born Oct 1881, born KS, at School
Carl W. TROYER, son, age 14, born Mar 1886, born KS, at School
Grace E. TROYER, dau, age 11, born Jul 1888, born KS, at School
I am hoping to locate someone from the family so that this wonderful old
photograph can be returned to the care of family. If you are a member of
this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me.
Thanks,
Shelley
