I have a number of “brick wall” ancestors who lived in LaGrange County in the
mid 1880s. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Sorry for all
the detail but I hoped someone would recognize one of these folks
My g great grandmother, Alice Susan BUCK (14 May 1828 NY – 29 Jan 1862 Ind)
married Richard W WOOLSEY 1848 in LaGrange Ind. She and her parents came to
LaGrange from Ohio sometime after 1843. Her parents are Enoch D Buck (abt 1801
in PA) and Betsey (poss) Pettigrove. 1806 NY - 1873 Kan I would be so grateful
if anyone has additional info on these two, sometimes I feel like they landed.
The siblings I have are: David Daniel Buck 1826 – ?, John P Buck 1831 – 1874,
Enoch Wentworth Buck 1834 – 1906, Mary Eliza Buck 1836 – 1871, Nancy Buck 1838 –
1912, Celinda Buck 1840 – 1874 and Margaret A. Buck 1843-1850
David, John and Enoch W all remained in Indiana. The daughters all moved to
various parts of Kansas.
The family was shown in the 1860 census living near their son David Daniel Buck
with Enoch apparently working on David's farm. In 1865, Betsey and Celinda are
shown in the 1865 Kansas census living with sister Mary's family.
Here are my questions.
Did Enoch die or desert the family? I don't find a grave on Find a Grave but
can't find any record of him after 1860. Is there a database of LaGrange graves
other than Find A Grave?
Where is Alice Susan Buck Woolsey buried?
Her husband Richard Woolsay married a Mrs Charlotte Ann Noland 3 Sept 1863 but
he moved to Kansas without her in 1870. What happened to Charlotte?
Thanks for any help
