Looking for information on Eliza SMITH (b Ohio 1826 - died Indiana, probably LaGrange
County, prob. 1852) and her husband Volney Alexander SIMPSON (b 1825 Jefferson County, New
York died 1912 Los Angeles County California) and their daughters Helen (b 1849 Indiana)
and Mary (b 1852 Indiana). I believe Eliza died giving birth to Mary or soon after: this
would have been before April or May 1852 as the two girls are named in a court case on
that date in a way that indicates they were by then motherless. Volney SIMPSON married
Eliza SMITH 1847 in Sandusky County, Ohio. By 1850 census they lived in Van Buren,
Lagrange County, Indiana. After her death Volney married a Sarah BISBY who died in 1864
also in Indiana. Volney moved on to San Luis Obispo, California where he appears in 1860
census, but he married a third time in Warren Co., Indiana to Sarah C. MARPLE. (Eventually
he married a fourth time.) I'd like to find out when/where Eliza died and is buried
and what may have happene!
d to Mary, her daughter, who died in 1860 -- did she die and was she buried in Indiana,
specifically in Lagrange County?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
