I don't have your folks in my database, but I'm wondering if they are part of the
family group which included Caterine Johns who emigrated from Somerset county, PA to
LaGrange county IN. Her family name is also found as Tschanz and her father was the
founder of Johnstown, PA which is famous for the Johnstown Flood and its aftermath with
established the American Red Cross and Clara Barton as disaster relief responders.
The Schrocks, Yoders, and Millers intermarried a lot; and she was married to a Samuel
Schrock and had a son named Samuel. The group of Schrocks is descendent from the
John/Hans/Johannes Schrag of the three brothers Schrag (John, Ulrich, & Casper) who
came to the US.
John was married to Barbara Yoder. After he died, she moved to LaGrange county and lived
with her daughter Lydia until her death. They had 12 children together. An elder child
David who moved to Newburg TWP, LaGrange CO, IN in 1846 when he was 38. A history of the
area states that he became a school trustee and administrator and that he was a Republican
and an Old School Amish Church member.
My Schrock line stopped off in Holmes county before emigrating to IN where they took the
name Shrock settling primarily in Tipton, Miami, and Howard counties.
Of course, the Schrocks are a complicated group to chart. Hope this information gives you
some ideas about where to look.
