I am looking to connect my Washington ADAMS with his proper parents and
ancestors. My Washington ADAMS was born about 1811/1812 in Ohio.
(County unknown.) We know he was living in Lagrange County Indiana in
1832 when he married Laura Hill who was the daughter of Dr. Moses Hill.
The Hill family moved from New York about 1830 where Dr. Hill
practiced medicine.
Washington ADAMS and wife moved to Ligioner Indiana before 1840 as their
three children were born in Ligonier. Mary J ADAMS, Moses ADAMS and
Martha ADAMS. Before 1860 Washington ADAMS family moved Mt. Carrol, IL
where in 1861 Mary J. ADAMS married Andrew Jackson CHRISTIAN.
We have found three possible Washington ADAMS - one of which may be
ours. I would like to hear from anyone who has some specific
information on any of the three.
(1) Washington Adams son of John Adams (1776-1837)and Polly Smith.
John was the son of George B. Adams and Anna Turner and grandson of
George B. Adams and Anna Turner. This Adams family migrated from
Fauquier County, VA in the early 1800s.
(2) This Washington Adams shows up in the Owen County Indiana 1830
census as being between the ages of 15-20 head of a household with an
adult female age 30-40 and a small male child under age 5. We do not
know what happened to this Washington Adams after 1830.
(3) This third Washington Adams was the son of a John Adams and
probably Polly Cunningham of Warren County, Ohio born in 1811. Father
John Adams died in 1824 and young Washington Adams was given a guardian
by the name of William McLean who was a U.S. Congressman and brother of
Supreme Court Justice, John McLean. about 1825 Washington Adams was
made an apprentice for leather saddles.
Since we do not know what happened to any of these three individual
Washington Adams', we are unable to match any of them to our Washington
Adams in Lagrange Indiana.
Thank you for your help.
