I can also provide some information on the Deal and Rawles lines. I'm
descended from Conrad Deal and Elizabeth Rawles who were married in Marion
Co., OH, on Feb. 22, 1825. They settled in LaGrange Co. and the Federal Land
Grant was dated April 5, 1836 and can be viewed on the Web on the Bureau of
Land Management site. It is very interesting because these grants were
signed by the President and his was signed "Andrew Jackson". Conrad's
father, George, was an ensign in the Ohio Militia in the War of 1812 and his
grandfather was Conrad Thiel who was a Hessian Soldier in the German
Auxiliary troops in the service of Great Britain in the Revolutionary War.
Conrad was captured by Washington's troops at the Battle of Trenton, NJ, on
Dec. 26, 1776, and he spent the rest of the War as a POW on the farm of Henry
Crum in Hanover Twp., Lancaster Co., PA. He married Anna Crum and settled in
Frederick Co., VA. Conrad was from Wasenberg, Hesse. He was a grenadier in
the Knyphausen Regiment, Co. 1, and was ransomed from POW status in June
1783. Later Deals lived in LaGrange Co. Conrad and Elizabeth are buried in
the E. Springfield cemetery. My grandfather, Guy Deal moved to Kendallville,
Noble Co. after my mother, Annalee Deal was born at Mt. Pisgah, LaGrange Co.
Elizabeth Rawles parents were Elisha Rawles and Frances Headley. They were
married in 1795 in Harrison Co., KY. He died in Marion Co., OH from my
records, Nov. 15, 1830.
Will be glad to provide more info to anyone who is interested. If you have
more info on the Rawles line before Elizabeth, I would be very interested.
