LaGrange, Ind. - Robert L. WENGER, 83, of 220 S. Mountain St., LaGrange, the former owner
of Wenger Sales and Service of LaGrange, died Nov. 4, 1997 at Vencor Hospital, LaGrange.
He was born May 23, 1914 in Howe, a son of Clayton A. and Sadie (SIDENER) WENGER. On June
24, 1939, he married Violet C. BATCHELOR in Hobart. She died Dec 29, 1977. He retired as
a professional mechanic at Nelson Motors of LaGrange and was employed at Nelson Chevrolet
of LaGrange. A member and deacon at the 1st Presbyterian Church of LaGrange, he was also
a member of the LaGrange Moose Lodge, Northeast Indiana Steam and Gas Association and the
National Rifle Association. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Glen (Patricia) LITKE of
LaGrange; two sons, James R. WENGER of Grand Haven, Mich. and Clayton W. WENGER of Kansas
City, Mo.; six grandchildren, Bruce and Lori LITKE, both of LaGrange, Heather LOWE of West
Olive, Mich., Jamie WENGER of Muskegon, Mich., Chris WENGER of Holland, Mich., and
Michael!
WENGER of Olathe, Kan.; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Richard WENGER of
Sturgis, Mich., and Russell WENGER of Muncie; one sister, Rachel FOLTZ of Shipshewana; and
his companion, Maxine V. HOUSOUR of Fort Myers, Fla. He was preceded in death by his
wife; his parents; and three brothers, Raymond, Roscoe and Roderick WENGER. Relatives and
friends may call from 2-9 p.m. Friday at the Frurip-May Funeral Home of LaGrange, where
services are at 10 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Stanley Wilson officiating. Burial will be
in the Sidener Cemetery, Howe. Memorials may be directed to the LaGrange County Cancer
Society or the Multiple Sclerosis Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
