Miles L. STACEY Sr. - 48, LaGrange, died Friday, July 16, 1999, as a result of injuries
sustained in an auto accident on U. S. 20 late Friday night. He was born August 4, 1950,
in Tipton, the son of Ray and Maddie (JOHNSON) HEAD. They survive. He was a 26-year
veteran of the Indiana State Police, a member of the F.O.P. and attended First United
Methodist Church of LaGrange. He was a combat veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving
during the Vietnam era. He moved to LaGrange County from Tipton in 1973. He was married
December 23, 1969, in Hamilton County, to Brenda S. HURST. She died in the same accident.
Survivors include one daughter, Kelly D. STACEY, LaGrange; one son, Miles L. STACEY, Jr.,
Elkhart; five brothers, George STACEY, Anniston, Ala., Red and Tom STACEY, Mark HEAD, and
Steve HEAD, all of Tipton; five sisters, Susie STEVENS, Jeanie ANDERSON, Barb HOWARD, Pam
JOHNS, all of Tipton; and Brenda MAISH, Evansville; and one granddaughter, Allison Jane
MATTINGLY !
STACEY. Visitation is Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church,
LaGrange. Visitation is Tuesday from 2 to 8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church,
LaGrange. Joint services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Tipton High School, with
calling from 11 a.m. until time of services. Indiana State Police Chaplain Mark Dodd and
the Rev. George Sullivan-Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery,
