Good morning cousin.
I have two John Burnsides in Indiana. One of them farmed in Fulton Township, Fountain
County. His wife was Nancy Lewis. They had no son named Joseph, of that I'm sure. This
John B. was my great-uncle.The other is the one you want to know more about. He was John
W. Burnside, born in La Grange Co., IN in 1836. Which is all I know about him personally.
From there on it gets better. John W. was the son of Samuel G. Burnside and Mary Elizabeth
Ewing, married Feb. 28, 1828 in Logan Co., Ohio. Samuel was born 1803 in Bath Co., VA and
died abt. 1855 in LaGrange Co. He was the son of Alexander W. Burnside, born Oct. 29,.1777
who was the son of our common ancestor, John Burnside, a veteran of the Revolutionary War,
born 1735 - 1745 in Augusta Co., VA and died 1809 in Bath Co., VA, buried in the yard of
the Old Stone Church in Lewisburg, WV. Alexander's mother was Mary Walker, daughter of
Alexander Walker, died early in 1775, buried in the old cemetery of the Stone Church at
Ft. Defian!
ce, VA. That's for openers.
