It appears that Edith Cole Chandler is the one we're looking for in spite of
her being a bit older, because she's the only one I've located with a
Pierceton connection. Her obituary appeared in the South Bend Tribune on January 2,
2000 in the Vital Statistics section:

Feb. 23, 1914 - Dec. 30,1999
Edith F. Chandler, 85, of Sarah Street, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away
following a brief illness at 4:40 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 30, in St.
Joseph Community Hospital.
She was born on Feb. 23, 1914, in Pierceton, Ind., to Ralph and Sara
Cole, both of whom preceded her in death.
On Nov. 29, 1941, in Bremen, Ind., she married Lawrence B. Chandler
who died on March 17, 1988. She was also preceded in death by two
sisters, Mary Stearnes and Pearl Hesting; and by a brother, Kenneth R. Cole.
She is survived by her sisters, Iva Lucille Atwell of Valparaiso,
Ind., and Ruth I. Kisling of Mishawaka; and by several nieces and nephews.
Services for Mrs. Chandler will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 4, in
the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, where
friends may call two hours prior to services. Burial will follow at
Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
