With sincere thanks to the hard work of two individuals, two new data
sets have been added to the Kosciusko County USGenWeb site.
Beth Miner has transcribed the Obituaries for 2008 and these are now
included in the Obituary Index for 2000 to 2008.
Janet Kirkpatrick transcribed the Kosciusko County Deed Books: 1 to
10. Covering the years 1836 to May, 1852. There are over 6,000 land
transactions indexed. The index notes the two parties in the
transaction, the page number and the Deed Book. Not only is this a
wonderful tool for family researchers, but it is an excellent snapshot
of the founding of Kosciusko County. Among other things, you will see
transactions involving Alex Coquillard, an early pioneer in Northern
Indiana and sales by the United States government and Native Americans.
Information is available for both of these index transcriptions on how
to order the information.
