Henry L. Ward , who had been a resident of this community for 48 years, died at the home
of his son, William, last Friday morning. He had only been sick a few days and death was
due to acute indigestion.
Mr. Ward was born in Maryland, Oct. 9, 1829, and died April 4, 1913, making his age 83
years, 5 months, and 25 days. He was married to Lydia Hanover on Aug. 8, 1848, and to
this union was born three sons and one daughter, Henry H., of Chippewa Lake, Mich., John
and WIlliam, of Syracuse, and Anna (Ward) Lantz, deceased. His wife , Lydia Ward died
Feb. 2, 1906.
The deceased had one brother living at Blakesly, Ohio. He leaves to moun his loss besides
the above mentioned, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives
and friends. He was a loving father and respected by all who knew him.
He united with the M.E. Church in his early life and later on moving here from Ohio,
became a member of the Church of God and lived a devoted Christian life until the time of
his death. The funeral was conducted from the home of Wm. Ward on Monday and was in
charge of Rev. J.E. McColley of Etna Green.
I don't have any death certificates dated that far back, it might say who his parents
were.
