So sorry for the loss to everyone in Kos County. Marge was a big help in my
research, unbeknownst to her. Regards, Felicia Wiser Hazelton

For those of you that have done any genealogy research in Kosciusko County,
especially on the US GenWeb page, I am sure you have seen Marge Priser's
name. She worked many hours on genealogy databases so everyone could find
their ancestors in Kosciusko County. Marge lost her battle with cancer
Saturday. She will be greatly missed in the genealogy world, especially at
the Kosciusko County Historical Society's Genealogy Library.
Marjorie Ann Priser, 69, a Clunette, Kosciusko County, Indiana resident,
passed away Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 2:54 pm in RiverCrest Specialty
Hospital, Mishawaka, IN. "Marge" as she was fondly called by family and
friends, was born November 14, 1942, in Kosciusko County to Condict Earl &
Marjorie Hope (Wallace) Vandermark.
She graduated from Leesburg High School in 1960, and traveled to Bloomington
where she received her degree at Indiana University to be a teacher and
librarian. She and her son, Dennis Hepler, ventured to Lowell, Indiana and
Tempe, Arizona, where she delighted in teaching grade school children and
managing the library.
Marge began working as an employee of RR Donnelley in 1972 and was a
material handler for many years when she retired in 2003. On December 9,
1978, at Houghton Lake, Michigan, she married Lawrence "Boomer" Priser, also
a Donnelley employee, who survives. Michigan- a place she discovered with
Boomer - was dear to her heart. She experienced and explored the area while
snowmobiling, ice fishing, and searching for sea glass and Petoskey stones.
Marge was a lifetime member of the Kosciusko County Historical Society, and
will be remembered for her tireless efforts of preserving genealogy and
local history for others. She was instrumental in getting many reels of 16
mm films of Kosciusko County events donated by Ralph and Gladys Boice to be
restored and preserved for future generations.
As a historical researcher, Marge looked for hidden information - history
that is otherwise undiscovered by most people- and transferred it to her
website to be accessible to everyone. Her particular area of expertise was
Civil War soldier information, which is available on the Kosciusko County
Gen Web site. She manually typed and published online many historical
Times-Union articles for public research. Marge was co-editor of the
"History of Warsaw" book published in 2001, and she authored many genealogy
books for the Historical Society.
Marge also had an avid interest in the historical Lincoln Highway and
coordinated a ceremony in 1995 to rededicate the Warsaw marker at Funk Park.
Marge was honored by the National Lincoln Highway Association with a
prestigious award for her contributions to the preservation of the history
of the Lincoln Highway.
She will be remembered by all who knew and loved her as a teacher and
mentor. Marge researched with zealous passion any subject, hobby, or love
that anyone she knew was interested in-she taught the joy of knowledge.
She will be missed by those she leaves for a time, her husband Boomer, son
Dennis, sisters Melba Jean (and Russell) Sipress of Elkhart and Eileen K.
Vandermark, Hellerup, Denmark; 5 nieces and nephews, great nieces and
nephews and a great, great nephew. She was preceded in death by a brother,
Lester "Bud" Vandermark.
Family and friends will gather at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, Indiana
Tuesday, August 2, 2011 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm to share memories and lend
support. A service celebrating the life of Marjorie Ann Priser will take
place Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at 10:30 am in the funeral home. Pastor
Michael Beezley of Clunette United Methodist Church will officiate. Burial
will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
Memorials may be made to the Kosciusko County Historical Society, Genealogy
Section, P O Box 1071, Warsaw, IN 46581, or donor's choice.
