reported Friday that the general condition of his health is fair. He spends
most of his time in bed, but arises briefly early each day for a visit with
friends. Fetters was born in Indiana and came to Polk county in September
1872 in a covered wagon. He homesteaded a farm and reared a family. His
wife and daughter are dead. His daughter was Mrs A R Larson. Another
daughter, Mrs Frank Fruide, lives in Lincoln, Nebraska. Fetters enlisted in

Later he was exchanged and returned to his oufit. He was discharged at

"According to family tradition, Frank Fruide's original surname was
Evangelista. He and his brother were kidnapped and brought to this country
by some gypsie musicians and were forced to play music on the streets to
make money for these
people. Frank escaped by jumping from a train as they were taking him to
California. He lived with some people named Fruide and had his name changed
so the gypsies couldn't find him."
