Tricia,
I have not forgotten about helping you! I have been doing a little digging on the
internet, and some more at the Warsaw Library, and then more at our local historical
society... they have a nice collection of records, too.
When I can't find a particular person, I look for other people "beside" that
person in the tree. Sometimes that search will turn up new clues or the missing person
himself!
Using this from your previous post... I have some info, news, possibilities, questions:
James Clarence Hall
b: 1855 in Warsaw, Kosciusko, Indiana
married to:
Agnes Reese
b: 1867 in Illinois
d: 1895 in Pratt Co, KS
(according to her gravestone, she was buried with infant)
James Clarence Hall's brother:
Charles B Hall
b: 23 Feb 1860 in Indiana
d: 2 Mar 1924 in Wichita, Sedgwick, KS
m: to Amanda J Brady
Have you seen this census entry for
Milford,Kosciusko County, Indiana - 1860:
James Hall 48 B:KY
Mary Hall 19 B:OH
Charles B Hall 3/12 B:IN
I found an index for early marriages in Kosc. County for
James Hall marrying Mary Silvers on 4-28-1859
(J.G.Watts - Justice of the Peace)
In the 1870 census, Middleton Village, Logan County, IL
I found who appears to be the same family:
James Hall 35 B:KY (can't write)
Mary 19 B:OH
Charles 10 B:IN
Joseph 8 B:IN
John 3 B:IN
I am not suggesting that this James Hall is James Clarance Hall (JC), but maybe JC's
father. If that assumption turns out to be proven correct, then Mary Silvers is not your
grandmother, but very likely she is James' second wife.
Knowing that James Clarance was born in 1855, I looked for obvious marriage records for
his parents in the preceeding years... not much on record before the WPA project of
course, but some stuff. I could not find anything. I searched death records and cemetery
listings to find a female Hall that passed away between 1855 and 1859... nothing really
fit.
Another option - Since James Clarance (JC) is not in the household in the 1860 census
COULD MEAN... his mother left and remarried and took JC with her... and your JC may have
been recorded with a different last name... maybe for years.
Let me know if any of the above makes sense, or you absolutely know this is not your
family. I would like to know so I can keep digging. Fact is, if this James Hall from KY
married to Mary Silvers turns out to be your relative... we might be able to make
connections between our Hall family trees... way back. I have lots of KY Halls!
Anxious to hear from you!
