Ms. Dean,
I think that some of the problem with wrong dates might be due to
searching for a particular name and when the search reveals the name & date,
it takes you to a page of a particular newspaper. We have recorded obits &
death notices for several newspapers. That obit or death notice may or may
not appear in the Warsaw newspaper. EDWARD (is that the same as Edwin?) W.
Higbee is shown with a death date of June 26 1920. That information is in
the WPA DEATH Record -- compiled in the 1920's by a variety of people. The
entire record is transcribed AS WRITTEN and put on the web to assist
researchers. Noone is declaring that it is carved in stone. There are
mistakes. The WPA Death Record is NOT the same resource as the Obit
Indexes that several living individuals have contributed (for free) to this
website. The obit or death notice for Olive -- can be found in the
PIERCETON newspaper. Those rolls of microfilm can be found at the jail
museum library or at the Pierceton Library. Please understand that the
people who have contributed to this website are not guaranteeing that every
record to be found here is correct -- only that they are sharing their work
with researchers like you. We have indexes for nearly all of the county
newspapers -- and MUCH of the Warsaw newspapers.
In fact, we have a group of years of Warsaw newspapers that need to be
indexed yet -- namely from 1920 to 1950. If you would like to contribute to
this project, get in touch with anyone at the jail museum library -- and
they can tell you how to do the indexing either on paper or on a computer.
For the most part, our GenWeb site has been highly praised and most folks
tell us that it is one of the best in the country.

I was at the Warsaw Library today looking up obits for other people, Edwin
Higbee, died on June 26, 1920, it is stated in the rootsweb obit date is
July 1, 1920, the obit date is June 26, 1920, on July 1, 1920 a small
paragraph states who attended his funeral.
His wife Olive died Nov. 30, 1934 I checked the microfilm for the dates
Nov. 30 through Dec. 7 and still have not found her obit. Supposedly it
is in the Dec. 5, 1934 paper. I spent a few hours reading each page so I
would not miss it.
This is just two that I came across today, I know I several others.
This is why I don't charge people who ask me to look up obits, it normally
takes longer to find them, because the obit dates aren't right. I enjoy
looking them up, I always come across some I've been looking for.
Jackie
