Several of my lines moved to Kosciusko County in the late 1830's from
Fairfield County, Ohio and other counties that were later formed from
Fairfield County. They included Davis, Garvin, Shoemaker, Raker, Sarber and
a few others. Some of these families were related by marriage prior to the
migration and others became connected by marriage after moving to Kosciusko
County.
I know it wasn't unusual for several families that were related by marriage
or friendship to move together to new country, but am quite curious as to
how they were drawn to this part of Indiana. Many of these families remained
in Kosciusko County for many generations and are, in fact, still there,
while others moved on west after only a short stay.
I will appreciate any information, opinions or data regarding these mass
migrations in general and from Fairfield County, Ohio in particular. Thanks
and I am also interested, of course, in communicating with anyone searching
these families.

I have always wondered the same thing about Tuscarawas County to Noble
and Kosciusko Counties.
