Obituary
Silver Lake Record, Thursday, December 23, 1897.
William Swick was born in Northumberland County, Penn., Dec. 24, 1812,
died at his son Levi, south of Beaver Dam Lake, Kosciusko Co. Ind., Dec. 9,
1897, age 84 years, 11 months, 15 days. He with his parents moved to Wayne
Co., Ohio about the year of 1824, and where he was married to Mary Shoup Aug.
13, 1837, and moved to Wyandotte County, Ohio clearing a farm, and in the fall
of 1860 he with his family moved to Seward township, Kosciusko County,
Indiana.
His companion preceded him to the spirit land on June 15, 1885. He leaves a
wife, 11 children, 48 grand children and 26 great grand children and a great
number of friends to mourn his departure. He early in life united with the
Church of God in Wayne county, Ohio, and has remained a consistent member ever
since. The children of the deceased tender there (sic) sincere thanks to the
neighbors for their kindness during his sickness. The funeral was held at the
Bethel church, on the banks of Yellow Creek lake, last Saturday, and the body
laid to rest in the cemetery near by.
William's daughter Elizabeth married George CROYL and their daughter Anna
Hester married Rudolph ENGLE. Rudolph is my great-grandfather.
