Hello, all - here is another Rhodes link for those looking for Rhodes in
Ohio. Just thought I'd pass it on since I know several are interested
in the name in Ohio.
Sasha Stanley
Madison Rhodes of Mark Center, was killed by a train running over him on
the B. & O. track, and tearing his body to pieces so that he could
hardly be recognized, when found on Wednesday morning. He had been in
Hicksville Tuesday afternoon, with other parties and became quite
intoxicated. He was quite noisy in the evening, and was about to be
arrested by S. M. Boon constable, when he left for home. He was killed
about four miles from Hicksville. When he started from town there were
several parties with him. D. G. Huffman agent at B. & O. depot, says
Rhodes had a quarrel with one of the party, below the station toward
Mark Center. It appears that he was lying on the track either too drunk
to get out of the way of the train, or else he was waylaid by someone.
The train hands report that they did not see him on the track. At this
writing no inquest has been held. He was a man of a family and about
thirty years of age.
