Hello everyone! My name is Pam (Walker) Green and I am hoping to make
connections with someone who is knowledgeable about either my maternal
or paternal roots in Kosciusko Co. Can anyone point me to someone with
knowledge about these families:
WALKER Father, Charles W. Walker (1917-1957), son of Shelby Walker and
Beulah Potts (later Beulah Lowman of Claypool). His brothers were Bob,
Bill, Fritz and Jerry. I think that Bill still lives in Warsaw but we
have been out of touch for a very long time. I would also like to
locate my cousin Rosemary Walker Marsburger whom I have not seen since
childhood but who may still live in the area (Wabash?). I do not have
any genealogical information other than the names of my father's
parents.
BAKER Mother, Annabel Baker (born 1918) daughter of Rose (née Baker)
and Elmore Baker. The family lived in Mentone. I have quite a bit of
information on this family, but lack information on Rose Baker's
grandparents. Her parents were William T. Baker ("Prohi") (1836-1921)
and Emiline Heighway (1838-1918). They were active in First Baptist
Church, Mentone.
-- I would appreciate knowing more about William T. Baker's parents
(Anderson Baker & Hanna Robbins ?)
-- and the parents of Emiline Heighway, who were John D. Heighway
(1811-1889) and Sarah W. Antrim (born c. 1816). John was a farmer in
Franklin Township per the 1850 census. There was a Samuel Heighway
(spelled Highway), age 65, living with them, born in England. I would
be delighted if anyone knew something which could point me to my English
roots!
-- in addition, if anyone knows any details of prohibition days in the
area and how William T. might have earned his nickname "Prohi," I'd be
delighted to hear them!
If any list members are in the know in these areas or can connect me
with a potential correspondent who is, I'll be very grateful.
