You mention Samuel and William Kelly......would this be the same

There are KELLYs in my husband's family tree and his aunt says John Kelly
was their direct ancestor through John and Mary's daughter, Alice.
I don't think that this is the same Samuel and William. Their parents names
were William and Rebecca. However, all is not lost and in fact you are in luck
(or your husband is). William and Samuel's oldest brother was John. John was
first married to Christina Ash in 1839. I don't have a date for when she died,
but John married again to Mary (Pittenger?) in 1847. Samuel's age on the 1850
census is listed as 8 and William's is listed as 5. This would have made them
born in 1842 and 1845 respectively. More than likely, Christina Ash was their
biological mother, though I'm sure they thought of Mary as their real mother.
John and Mary's two children would have been Rebecca and Agnes. Rebecca's
middle name started with an A. Either she or Agnes could have been your Alice.
Of course, John and Mary could have had more children. Unfortunately I haven't
done any research on John's descendants since he's not my direct line.
Hope this helps you out!
