My great-grandmother, Julia BLACK (b. March 1856 - daughter of Frederick C.
Black and Catherine Rookstool of Boydston Mill) married Joseph David MILLER on
October 20, 1877. Joseph was born in 1856 to David MILLER. Mother
uncertain.
His siblings included the following:
Mary, b. 1845 married Cyrus WEIMER
John, b. 1847
Jacob, b. 1849 married Camille ?
Eli, b. 1851
Eliza, b. 1852 married ? SNOKE
Mariah, b. 1860 married Harvey (Noah) MOCK
The MILLER family homestead was on the east side of Lake Webster (Miller's
Landing). They had a grocery store and donated the land for the Greider
Cemetery on Epworth Forest Road. There was a small church near the cemetery
and Julia and Joseph would walk over early each Sunday morning to start a fire
before the congregation arrived. The land that the homestead sat on was given
to Joseph and Julia as a wedding present from David MILLER.
Here is my problem!! After two years of searching, I find nothing on David.
Does anyone have any information? I cannot locate him in land records,
census, etc. I have searched in Elkhart and Noble Counties also. It is
believed that his wife's name may have been Sophia and they came from PA via
OH. The old family Bible with all of his information disappeared several
years ago in the Goshen, IN area.
If it is any help, the children of Joseph David and Julia MILLER were Bessie
L. (JONES), Laura (KNEPPER), Lily (GALLOWAY), Ada (IDEN), Della (AIRGOOD),
Florence (HAMMAN), Roy, Marie (LINN), Anna, Jesse and Cloid.
I appreciate any tidbit someone can pass on!
