Sue, thank you for writing in answer to this newspaper article. I,
too,
was horrified to read this, but except for one other person and you, no
one else responded. I can't believe that people do not care anymore
about their cemeteries and their deceased relatives. The Indianapolis
Star-News has removed this article from their pages. I think you would
be doing a very good deed if you found out about the stones (whether
they're recorded or not) and take pictures of them.
God bless.

Excuse me Sasha, I was very upset by the article. The fact that I didn't
respond on the net didn't weaken my sorrow at the thought of all this going
on. My gr grandmother's grave was in a private cemetery in my little town
in California. Someone, who was out there when the cows were walking over
the stones, (it was just an old field to most people,) had the common sense
to call my sister. She realized ,that we were, in fact ,related to this
family. My sister promptly went out to the old cemetery and brought the
stone home. It is now in her garden, but we all know where the place is and
where it should be. I don't know what we can do about all this. It will
only get worse if nothing is done. I sent the article to many people to
let them know what is happening.
Thanks for your article.
