All,
Although I am NOT releted to these families, I received this message
on the Madison County Iowa list and noted references to Koscuisko
County, IN in the information. If anyone is working on these lines
there is an active discussion on the Madison County Iowa list about
these twio lines.

Thanks, Fred! I was drawing a blank last night as I was trying to remember Carl
HIRCOCK's first name. Ah, yes, the fond memories I have of Dad's (William Eldon
HANDLEY) TV repair shop at 123 West Court, phone number 23, and going next door to the
HIRCOCK's shop to buy a Coke from their machine. I think Martin HIRCOCK might have
worked in my Dad's shop for a while, but I'm not sure. Then, there is the not to
fond memory I have of being butted by one of Carl and Belle's goats out at their
place! Carl must be getting up there in years. I know we have some pictures of Carl from
back in the late 1950s/early 1960s, I don't think we do of any of the other HIRCOCKs.
Anyway, back to business. It seems the connection between the BIRD and HIRCOCK families.
The short version of it is that Thomas BIRD's great granddaughter, Elizabeth
ARMSTRONG, married William HIRCOCK. The following is NOT my research, and I want to try
to clearly give credit where credit is due.
Thomas BIRD Descendants
This first part is taken from: The Descendants of Thomas BIRD published by Rex Bird
Finley, 3126 Grail, Wichita KS USA 67211-3818. I have not had contact with Rex for years,
and he was an older individual at that time. If I remember correctly, the mailing address
stopped working a number of years ago. He was an older gentleman when I actively
corresponded with him back in the 1970s. SOMEWHERE in this house I do have a copy of the
book he published. Where my husband moved the box it was in is unknown--but that's
another story. Since I am descended from Isaac, I did not copy the other lineages into my
records from his book. But I seemed to remember that it was one of Isaac's
brother's descendants who married into the HIRCOCK line, and I thought it was William
BIRD's descendant.
I did find SOME (but nowhere near all) of Rex's information at the LDS website,
www.familysearch.com. However, I did find a GEDCOM for Thomas' family on the internet
and it confirmed my belief that the HIRCOCK and BIRD connection was through a descendant
of William BIRD.
Here's the long version of the connection.

I list a Carl L. Hircock, married to Belle Lorraine Roach. He was the son
of Lannie R. Hircock. Carl and Belle had one son, Martin Raymond Hircock,
that I list, that's all. These Hircock's are from the Winterset area.
