Opal HARTSOCK Huffman FOUND by Heather Stafford
The Sherlock Holmes 2002 award goes to Heather Stafford who found what
happened to Opal Hartsock Huffman.
The 1922 obituary of Opal's father mentioned three daughter, two living in
Montana. Opal evidently got a divorce from Thomas Huffman and was living in
MT.
She remarried a man named John Forman, lived in Montana and had her son
Eugene living with them and several Forman children in 1920.
Ken Fawley got Samuel Hartsock's 1922 obit and Beth Miner provided brother
Hannibal Hartsock's 1958 obit which mentioned three surviving sisters so it
is known that Opal was still alive in 1958!
Heather visited the Allen Library but couldn't locate a more informative
obit for Hannibal. She did learn of Hannibal's marriage and since finding
where he was married, I was able to find his appearance in the 1920 as
"Hartsoeb, Hannibal"!
ALL THIS IN 8 DAYS. OK! SO GOD DID IT IN 7!

What happened to Opal HARTSOCK Huffman??
Did she die before 1915? Did she get a divorce? Did she move to Montana?
Does anyone know if her father Samuel L. HARTSOCK had an OBITUARY ??? He
died 12 Nov 1922. An obit is the only possible way to find out if his
daughter Opal had died before him.
In 1900 Opal was living with her father and his new wife.
In 1911 Opal Hartsock married widower Thomas Huffman after his wife died in
1911 leaving a son Arthur Huffman b.1909 [son Carl Huffman was born and died
in 1910]. Opal Hartsock Huffman had a son Eugene Huffman. Nothing further
has been seen of either Arthur or Eugene Huffman.
Nor has anything more been found about Opal (Hartsock) Huffman. Thomas
Huffman went to work in the oil field of Kentucky about 1915 and had a son
Forrest born 1916 KY by Roxie Holland.
Would love to hear from anyone with any information about the Hartsocks. An
amazing family. Much to share.
