Here are the possibilities that I see (I am sure there are more!)
One of the McFall girls was a Catherine and married a Linn. He died and she married James
Wooden.
There might have been an Eckert sister to John Hancock Eckert (Sullivan's father) by
the name of Catherine (the name Catherine runs in the Eckert family). If I am guessing
right on the parentage of JH Eckert, there were still at least young sisters still at
home in 1820 in Fairfield County OH. Perhaps one of them was a Catherine who married a
Linn.
And there very well might have been a Catherine Mosier. I know some of that family went
with Sullivan Eckert to Hancock County Ohio and possibly to Indiana.
And you are right that she may have been a close family friend of the family. However,
the obit was with family papers but I guess that doesn't mean much.
I will do some checking to see what I can find.
