Does anyone have info on a JAMES BYBEE, b. 1815 Marion Co TN, m. MARY COOK (b. 1822
Montgomery Co. AR) on June 19, 1838 in White Co AR. Their dau. NANCY SAFRONIA ANGELINE
BYBEE m. WILLIAM JACKSON BAKER in Montg. Co AR in 1865; they are my grandparents. My Dad
says she was Choctaw (?? how much) and after Civil War she was advised by Indian Agent
that if she wanted to claim property owned by the BYBEE family in Lampasas, TX, she would
have to go down there. Wm Jack would not let her go as some Indians were feuding and she
would have to go thru there on way from Montgomery Co AR to Lampasas TX. So she
didn't go. I know there were families of BYBEE in Lampasas, and there still are. I
have written to some of them but get no reply. When Safronia born in 1850, she and family
were on white census, thus have never found them on Dawes lists. I can't find JAMES
in the many BYBEES in these message boards, and I've searched all 1397 of them as of
Aug. 22. I think James may have!
had a brother or ? named JOHN BYBEE who also lived in Montg. Co AR, and in 1847, there
was an ANGELINE BYBEE traveling with Bybee family on way to Missouri, but she met a Mr.
AMERSON while on wagon trail, he was from Montg. Co, so she left her family and stayed in
Montg Co and married Mr. AMERSON. Story goes she never saw her family again. Can someone
give me any data on this JAMES BYBEE.
