The Fort Wayne News And Sentinel, publ. in Fort Wayne, Indiana, ran this article Monday,
January 20, 1919:
WARSAW Ind, Jan 20 - A large number of old friends and acquaintances attended the funeral
services held Monday afternoon for W. H. H. Bennett, a civil war veteran who died Frlday
night of apoplexy. The services were held from the home on Maple avenue, with Rev. L. J.
Nafziger, pastor of the Methodist church, officiating. Mr. Bennett, who was an
ex-councilman of Warsaw, was 77 years of age and was born in Plain township, Kosciusko
county. He enlisted in Company I, Twelfth Indiana infantry, in 1862, and remained in
service until the close of the war. He was held a prisoner at Richmond, Ky. for several
months. Surviving relatives are the widow, a daughter and two sons, Mrs. E. E. Kimes, of
near Warsaw, Benjamin Bennett, of Fort Wayne, and Logan Bennett, of Baltimore, Md.
