Jackie,
My great grandparents were married by a United Brethren preacher - John Good - in 1880. I
wrote to the United Brethren Historical Center in Huntington, IN and they referred me to
DePauw University, Roy O. West Library, Greencastle, IN 46135-0037 (phone 317-658-4800).
The United Brethren Churches became United Methodist somewhere along the line.
John Good was a circuit preacher, assigned to the Wooster Circuit in 1879-80. According to
DePauw, "Some of the classes on that circuit were Wooster, Ludlow, Union, and Walnut
Creek. However, we have none of the old membership records from those classes here in the
Archives, and Walnut Creek UMC is the only one of the four still in existence."
They suggested that I contact KCHS or the Walnut Creek UMC (2033 S 150 W, Warsaw, IN
46580) to see what records they have.
Hope this helps.
Sherry

Does anyone know approx. when the United Brethren Church next to the
Union Cem. in Harrison Township disbanded? I believe my gggrandfather ,
Hiram Freeman, was the minister there at the time of his death in 1872.
I would like to try to tract down the records from this church. I am
thinking that they might be part of a collection of United Brethren
records which is located at a college in New Jersey. The chance is
small, but worth looking at.
Thanks, Jackie Nobles in NY.
